I heard him live only once, at the Village Vanguard, with Don Cherry (plus Carlos Ward and a tuba player). From my seat, I could not really see him, as my view was obstructed by the pillar, but he sure sounded great.

Last night, I caught the very last song performed by Billy Drummond's Quartet, with Jaleel Shaw playing stronger than I've ever heard him play. Tonight, part of a set by the David Schnitter Quartet.

From one prior experience at Smalls, I can say that her tenor sound in person is really gorgeous.
