  3. Yes, that was the cover of the original issue. Dawn shortly after released the same album with a new cover (and a new first name for its leader!)
  4. Thelonious Monk 'It's Monk's Time' (French CBS)
  5. A couple more guitar heroes who recorded only one (or two) albums under their names...
  6. About the Bernard Peiffer 2CD, too bad they did not upgrade it to a 3CD to include the second Peiffer album on Laurie Can-Can, another brilliant performance! I managed to get two copies of 'Modern Jazz for People Who Like Original Music'. First one was a very good copy. The second copy was up for grabs for a couple of bucks in a US shop, obviously because the cover was in a terrible shape. The seams had given up and managed to hold the record together with plenty of scotch tape. However the back cover had notes in french from Peiffer himself. The pianist also gave a recording date ('Enregistré le 18 novembre 1959 à NYC'). Forwarded the information to Tom Lord who included it in his Discography. This obviously escaped the liner notes writer at Universal France. Another surprise was that the vinyl inside was 'Cole Porter's CanCan', an album that eluded me up to then and which I still have never seen. That vinyl was much better than the cover, however if anybody has a spare copy of that cover, I would be very happy to get a proposition for a purchase, or an exchange!
  7. Fats Waller 'Complete Recorded Works, vol. 6' (JSP)
  8. Ubu, thanks for displaying the right link to the Cravic/Roussin/Varis album. Not really familiar with the Cordes et Lames music. Will take care of this when that Jazz in Paris release comes out... Dominic Cravic is a member of the Primitifs du Futur group (the group co-led by Robert Crumb!) and their music has to be checked out! I am a great fan of les Primitifs!
  9. In adition to the Bernard Peiffer, Jazz in Paris is also releasing the following CDs: Rhoda Scott Ivan Jullien Boulou Ferre Dominique Cravic
  10. Lucky Thompson 'Kinfolks Corner' (Rivoli, mono)
  11. Hal McKusick also recorded several albums for the Music Minus One label including this one I mentioned this to Michael Fitzgerald a couple of years ago but those albums are still not included in his discography!
  12. Well, Cal Cobbs did play some organ on several Ayler sessions... This is the page from the Ayler site that Ubu was referring to: Spiritual Unity My copy of Spiritual Unity is the early edition with the Paul Haines booklet. Record labels list 'Sonny Murray (brushes)' as the drummer!
