  1. Cecil Taylor, pianist/composer, and poet!
  2. Yes, Paul! Was lucky to be acquainted with Demetre when I was writing articles in Jazz Hot in the late 50s. Demetre had an apartment very close to the magazine headquarters and I spent several afternoons there listening to his collection of 78rpm blues records. A very interesting man. However I was on even better terms with his co-author Marcel Chauvard whose tastes ranged wider and went beyond blues into the hardbop productions from BN, Prestige and others (a rare opportunity in the late 50s over here!).
  3. How about bass player John Heard, also a painter and a sculptor? https://sites.google.com/site/pittsburghmusichistory/pittsburgh-music-story/jazz/modern-era/john-heard
  4. Drummer Daniel Humair is also a well-known painter (he poses in front of one his work):
  5. . Still, I don't have the Mosaic booklet....perhaps It's worth it for that? The booklet has informative notes by Bob Blumenthal. It also includes a couple of dozen excellent photos from Francis Wolff that you don't see elsewhere.
  6. Happy Birthday, Late
