  3. Looks like this thread is getting off track. The original question referred to BN Doubletime CDs. A specific series. Morganized posted an image of the real thing on his post #7. Others that have been mentioned are plain double (or triple) BN CDs. Not Doubletime ones!
  4. The Complete Pacific Jazz Live Chet Baker, vinyl disc 3
  5. Great story! Great writing! Thanks for posting it!

  8. Pretty sure the answer is No! Wasn't Art Blakey's Orgy in Rhythm released as one of those doubletime CD?
  9. Damn right I have edited the typo in my earlier post. Adding a couple of June 11 sessions: 1928 - Jimmy Blythe 'The Dixie Four' (Buddy Bur ton, Bill Johnson, Clifford Jones) record session for Paramount 1987 (and June 12)- Freddie Hubbard-Woody Shaw Sextet (Kenny Garrett, Mulgrew Miller,Ray Drummond, Carl Allen) record session for BN (The Eternal Triangle)
  10. Roland Kirk 'Left and Right' (Atlantic)
  11. Neveronsaturday, if you sill looking for that Jazz In Paris sampler CD/Catalogue, PM me
  12. France produced the music and the boxes. It took the Germans to provide the essential information! There seems to be hope for Europe, still
  13. It took sixty years for the music to be heard outside of Town Hall and to become an Instant Classic! The wait was really worth it!
  14. Latest opus from Eric Watson with his current group: http://www.actmusic.com/act9429_e.htm Have not heard that one yet!

  16. Can somebody explain why this Ayler/Cherry Vibrations CD which was in thousands of bins over the last few years is being sought by so many people, some of them willing to pay $200 for it? Sound on this reissue is not that great. Sound on the original vinyl beats the CD by a mile!
  17. Watson - who has been living in Paris for a long time now - has also recorded the highly recommended opus 'Your Tonight Is My Tomorrow' for Owl with Steve Lacy, Jean-Paul Celea on bass and Aaron Scott on drums. 1987 session. Got this on vinyl but I think it's also available on CD. Can't compare with the Mingus tribute which I never heard!
  18. Mezz Mezzrow Memorial - Theatre des Champs-Elysees 6 Mars 1953 (Vogue) This double LP was issued in 1972 after Mezzrow died in Paris. Mezzrow's fellow musicians included Buck Clayton, Russell 'Big Chief' Moore, Gene Sedric on tenor - and dueling with Mess on clarinet on one tune - Red Richard and Kansas Fields. Don't thing this pleasant concert was ever reissued.
  19. Never, welcome to the zoo
  20. Rosco, thanks for looking that up in all the right places! Your contribution welcomed! And welcome to you on this Board!
  21. Same album - and same six tunes - except mine is on vinyl! The logo on the right hand corner of the cover of that Iturralde/Hawes is definetely Blue Note! The vinyl I have has the same cover (with a 'Hispavox Special Edition for Fresh Sound Records' logo instead of the BN one)! Interesting Fresh Sound/BN connection
  22. BELLS by Albert Ayler! And the neighbors 'ld better shut up
  23. Couw posted (# 55) a link to that CD plus catalogue. The booklet was CD sized. I stopped writing on catalogues several years ago when I went back to old BN catalogues from the Lion/Wolff era and a Saturn brochure and found all my added notes on them! I keep the new items pristine nowadays!
  24. Spanish BN? I have that Iturralde/Hawes meeting on Hispavox/Fresh Sound vinyl, a February 1968 date. BN issued that too?!?
