  1. So my guess of three months or more since the change was accurate. I am actually really surprised that Gheorge never had this come up before.
  2. this was a change on last upgrade, that you had to use your email not your screen name going forward. Its been quite a while since this changed, actually. I am guessing three months or more. I imagine you didn't notice this because you had the log in cookie recognizing you whenever you did come here.
  3. It was my pleasure and really not very time consuming at all .... in fact it suggests an option for the future if there is an unclaimed month, for a quick and dirty collaborative effort again.
  4. I think maybe you're right. I like Spaulding later in his career, some Muse recordings are strong.
  5. I took 1/2 a star off for Hank Mobley soloing? WTH is the matter with me? <Hangs head in deep shame>
  6. Sticking to what had appeal (except in one instance): 1. Guessing Charles Tolliver. was 3 1/2 stars but the saxophonist took away from the track for me so 3 stars. 6. Muted trumpet "Tenderly". No guesses but 3.5 stars. 7. I wonder if a different saxophone would have elicited a different reaction but I hate hate hated his/her tone. 1 star for the potential of the concept. Thanks Randy.
  7. @Joe Definitely on the hunt for that CD and here is a photo from the Leonard Gaskin Papers from a Jimmy Hamilton gig at Carlos 1 in 1984. Leonard Gaskin Papers, Archives Center, National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution
  8. Thanks to all who participated as compilers and guessers across this two-part celebration of that Organissimo tradition started by @DrJ lo these many years ago. For my track, I had several of my usual bluesy jazz track options I went back and forth on, but then I had an opportunity to throw in a couple of CDs to a discogs order, and once received my choice became clear. There will be other opportunities for those skipped tracks, and I chose to honor the man who called himself SGUD Missile here and died last November. It was track 2 from this: https://www.discogs.com/release/5715293-Phil-Kelly-The-NW-Prevailing-Winds-Convergence-Zone and for those who wondered about the engineering/sound of the track, I can advise that the liner notes mention that it was a bit of a studio creation, with the rhythm section recorded elsewhere and delivered via ProTools files, and that soloist Pete Christlieb overdubbed the entire saxophone section. Similarly for the two trumpets and two trombones. I heartily recommend both of the CDs I received, this one and Battle of the Bouncing Beagles. Calling on @JSngry, @felser, @mjzee, @medjuck, @tkeith, @Joe, @mikeweil, @Ken Dryden and the grand pooh bah himself, @DrJ to post their track reveals and any needed comment at their earliest convenience. I presume that regularly scheduled programming will resume April 1 with BFT 241. And also hoping that Tony Jerant can put together a whole BFT for September which AFAIK is still open.
  9. You know I used to think, "you win on Opening Day, you're in first place." But apparently that is wrongthink. MLB.com lists teams that are tied in alphabetical order, and then shows this on the preview screen for the Blue Jays - Rays second game of the year. WTH? Also, ha ha Yankee fans, Sox are in 2nd place and Yanks in third.
  10. Anything revealed about future releases or does he keep it close to the vest? I assume you would ask.
  11. It's almost as if Ohtani's interpreter was speaking to him in English, that's why he didn't really understand what was going on and is a victim of "theft". I suspect this is it for statements and "press conferences" until MLB is done "investigating".
  12. Very strange and I go back to the presumption that a guy on an $85,000 salary doesn't get a chance to run up 4.5 million in debt to a bookie and that you don't get that opportunity with draft Kings. But you know who might have that pull, and would go to a bookie, not a recognized corporation/partner with MLB, if they want to place bets on baseball that he knows is strictly not allowed? A super rich ballplayer.
  13. Well that will be pretty neat for you. I think the closest I got to totality was in the summer of 1984 when I was a freshman at FSU satisfying the "you must attend one summer semester" requirement.
  14. I thought I read that the interpreter stated that they were limited to $500,000 transfers at a time. That would make quite a few that went past everybody. Didn't even make me think about how an accounting firm might question such a payment, let alone presumably at least nine of them.
  15. This is foolish. Bookies take bets. They aren't the old Money Store(tm) that Phil Rizzuto used to endorse. They don't finance illicit activity. They take bets.
  16. DraftKings and other businesses don't extend credit of 4.5 million. Which brings up another question, direct to the heart of who was really betting: $85,000 yearly income from the Dodgers. Why does any bookie allow such a debt to accumulate, unless it was really entered into by the player not the 'buddy'?
  17. Thanks for that GoM because in all honesty, the sum total of my reading on this was what was detailed in this thread. What I cannot fathom and makes no sense is that an interpreter/buddy who is on the payroll of the Dodgers supposedly had the ability to access Ohtani's financial accounts and send money to his bookie without authorization. Also that Ohtani and his people had absolutely zero controls in place to notice 4.5 million dollars out of his account(s) without any recognition or concern.
  18. when viewed in miniature those clinking glasses could be interpreted as someone mooning someone.
  19. I'm just poppin popcorn and wondering how it goes ...
  20. Man I do love that KD record. I found it as a used Japanese issue CD so I don't know if the sound is extra special good compared to OJC but great tunes. For the thread topic I can only say that Flanagan shows why he was in demand. He fits. He swings. He's part of the magic - but most of it comes from McKinley Dorham. What I've never been sold on is the title ... its not trumpet fireworks but is "Quiet" really the best adjective? "Quiet" almost implies Blue Hour or Feelin' the Spirit level of ennui (or so I have heard, I don't buy it myself) but this is hard swing at a medium tempo: Percolatin' Kenny!
  21. There are some fine recordings in there but what is the hook? You can only say 'the label' which probably doesn't get as much respect as it could/should but that's a big box to try to sell.
  22. Maybe if he was convicted of a crime.
