The Red Sox and Yankees were interested but wouldn't commit to a major league deal or promise him the immediate opportunity to pitch in the majors, so he went to Cincinnati. It just seems silly to me that he was ever placed in the bullpen. If he is this good he could very well be the next Randy Johnson.

(When I saw Roy Haynes with the Bird tribute group four or five years ago, he had each band member introduce themselves and Nicholas Payton said his name was Chuck Mangione.)

Can't listen at work but I'll be sure to check it out at home, Bruce - Holy Land is one of my favorite Cedar Walton compositions. Welcome back!

Jazz and Culture in Tallahassee and Jacksonville, FL
Dan Gould replied to BeBop's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Wow - two clubs booking jazz? That's miles ahead of where it was in the mid-90s when I was there. To answer your other question - there are no neighborhoods in Tallahassee except in the residential sense. And culture has to be brought in by FSU or FAMU, so it depends on what may be scheduled for the fall semester as far as that goes. On the other hand, by December temperatures should have cooled down pretty nicely. You might even see lows in the 50s and highs around 70-75, give or take. -

Doesn't sound like you'll be in town that long but I'd highly recommend Reba Russell in December. Powerful blues singer like Janiva but more of a traditionalist. -

That's it - and I see in their archive that our own Greg Nagy has played there. -

Paul would be the one with fresh knowledge of Tallahassee. There is a legit blues club outside of town, I wish I had known about it when I lived there. Can't for the life of me think of the name though ... -
Legal Question: Posting Performances on the Net
Dan Gould replied to AllenLowe's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I don't understand why this is related to Allen's question. Smalls clearly indicates that the artists are consulted both on live video streams and what audio recordings are added to the archive. So its all done with approval and doesn't fall under any sort of "fair use doctrine". -

I just find it ludicrous how Timmy points the finger at me as being when the story on this thread has been that Timmy noticed a poorly constructed sentence I wrote (and which everyone else understood its intended meaning) and won't stop talking about it, after clarifications and multiple posts by others about it. So just why the fuck does he make the claim he did above? I think the Ted has it right. Does Timmy treat his students like this? Does he harp on an error from last semester and never let them forget it? I'm happy to cease and desist but I am not going to back down from a world class a-hole whose every post better applies to his own failures than those of his target. -

How would we possibly know when your Union prevents any study of how teachers effect student performance, Timmy? Is there any possible reason to believe anything but that you are a typical 50-something teacher who hangs onto his job simply due to union protection of seniority "rights"? Like I said, when incompetent teachers can be fired without first spending half a million dollars, CA will have finally done something right. Starting with you. Now, anyone else think that Timmy has been making "something out of nothing just to piss someone off for no good reason?" Is this not exactly what he's been yammering about for the last three days? -
That's true - Eddie told me that Richard Evans was his best man "at three of my weddings".

Oh. My. Fucking. God. You haven't made something out of nothing just to piss someone off for no good reason? Pot, meet kettle. You fucking joke. -

Keep in mind that he chose to name his business in a grammatically fucked up way. Do we speak good? OR Do we speak well? The fact that he calls it and himself "Goodspeak" says a great deal. -
No doubt. I've managed to talk myself into the possibility of a sweep if they can beat Garza tonight. But what they really need is for Tampa or NY to fall into one of those real slumps, lose six of eight or something and they climb right back into it, maybe even take over the wild card. Now watch, Garza will shut them down, Clay will come back to Earth and I'll be pissed off again.

Don't I know it, J.H.! And you'd think 2004 and 2007 would satisfy a bit but each season is another competition, and it just sucks for both of our teams that injuries have hurt so much (and in your case a questionable trade too). Oh what could have been ...

You really should be thankful for the one championship given that he's been the closer.

You teach English. Oh my fucking God. How the fuck have you kept your job? Everyone on the fucking board knows what I meant. Everyone who has commented has some sort of variation on "what the fuck is the matter with you Timmy?" and you say I am in over my head. I feared for the future when I learned you are a teacher. Now I'm flat out terrified. Our one hope is that CA wises up and does something about the teacher's union power to protect incompetents. When it doesn't take a half a million dollars to fire an incompetent like you, CA might be at the start of something good. -
Certainly Buchholz is the guy you want for tonight's game even though Garza, the disgusting expectorator, usually has his way with us. So Buchholz has to pitch another gem and then its Lackey vs "Big Game James" who never comes up aces against Boston. A sweep sure would change the big picture though its still an extreme long shot overtake either team. What's infuriating is that both have been so much healthier, there's not a doubt in my mind that with a normal distribution of injuries, Boston runs away with the division. When you think what they've done with a crippled lineup, this is a 100+ win roster if healthy. But ifs and buts were candy and nuts ...

Thanks for demonstrating that you are incapable of responding to my question and in fact you cannot reconcile the second half of the sentence with your insane interpretation of the first half, or admit that the second half of the sentence makes clear what the first half intended. -

Then please explain the entire sentence, specifically the last clause of the paragraph and the final sentence. According to your contextual reading comprehension, "peon" would have to refer to Bonds. But why would Clemens, if he were secretly in love with Barry, regard him as a peon? And what about the last sentence? What are the "plays" being compared? I think I got it - Roger loved Barry. Barry is a peon because Barry was Roger's "bottom" right? That must be what I meant by "peon". I apologize to everybody but Timmy for putting that image in your head. But it is the logical conclusion stemming from his utter lack of comprehension skills. -
Its true that the elbow is the less dangerous injury. Pryor had the inverted W motion and his shoulder gave out. So there is hope that he'll be OK but only time will tell. If he maintains his stuff and avoids further injury (the latter is a big if), one year to wait isn't much. Its not like it starts his clock toward free agency any sooner. They'll still have six years of service time before that happens.

Nobody is going back to read the nonsensical lunacy of what you've written about steroids, Timmy, for the exact same reason that no one goes back to read the Unabomber's manifesto. They both come from the addled mind of a freaking loon. -

That's because he's a flipping moron. No one has stepped in to say they didn't recognize the reference being to the differences in the integrity of their respective personal trainers. Only Goodie insists on continuing to read it in his own moronic way. More power to him. Keep believing it, Timmy. No one else gives a shit, and you continue to demonstrate how much of a fool you are.
