  1. Sorry. I must have missed the posts applauding this donation. Must have been the same ones that welcomed your arrogant & obnoxious appearance on the forum.
  2. The daughter of my wife's business partner not only had swine flu but she was hospitalized with it. No big deal and she was back to normal in about the same time that anyone suffers from plain old regular flu.
  3. How anyone can find pleasure or joy in crap like that is completely beyond me. Isn't there enough ugliness in the world without having to look for it in "music"? Seriously, someone please tell me what is pleasing about that. What should I listen for? Is there actual interaction between those "musicians"? Is the asshat on tenor especially well-known for that "bang the keys with the palm of your hand" move? It would have been great though if they did something creative like signaling the end of that noise-fest with a Basie ending. Somehow I don't think they know the notes though or could articulate them so you'd know what they'd done.
  4. A Tongue Supreme? Giant Slurps? Big Lick? If you ever saw Coltrane for a day, you'd know that A Tongue Supreme is perfect. The kissiest dog I've ever known - me, my wife, Gracie. We call the couch the "Kissing Zone" because if you sit there you're willingly subjecting yourself.
  5. Coltrane is sort of the opposite - when I am doing something in the kitchen, he drinks some water out of the bowl and then kisses my legs, and his tongue is so wet water/saliva drips down my leg. I always tell him "thank you for the wet kisses."
  6. Apparently there are two schools of thought on the "meaning" of this song. One says that Simon made a bet that he could write a song about a camera. The other says that Playboy used Kodachrome film for their centerfolds. His mother found his stash of Playboys and he is pleading that she not throw them out, because "all the girls in high school" would "never match his sweet imagination" staring at the centerfolds. Personally I think I liked the song because grade school was a drag, and the lyrics had great appeal.
  7. I just saw something on Headline News - the girl admitted that she hadn't fallen asleep while being tattooed, she came up with that story when her Dad freaked over what she had done.
  8. I would say that if the runner used the helmet as a shield - moving it to block the tag - he'd be ruled out. If on the other hand the helmet landed on his chest and the fielder swiped the helmet, not his uniform, the umpire could rule him safe.
  9. My problem is losing CDRs when I've transferred (or for that matter, received from someone) two LPs to one CD with different artists. This has happened a couple of times recently when I sold LPs on eBay. Before shipping them I wanted to make sure I had a transfer, and in one case I didn't think I did but after transferring and manually editing out the clicks, I stumbled across the CDR that I had filed under the other guy's name. Other time is more annoying - I sold Monty Alexander's World Pacific debut LP, I'm absolutely certain that I made a transfer some time ago but hell if I know where it is, so I had to do it all over again. And it wasn't the quietest of records. Maybe that will teach me not to make two-fers of unrelated LPs in the future, but when you've got limited slots in a three-ring binder system, its much easier to add one CD than two.
  10. "I Should Care" is one of the all-time great ballad performances, truly a desert island track. YMMV, of course.
  11. Just beat the Yankees in a week - but don't give the Sox too much trouble.
  12. Season high four game lead over the Yankees for my Red Sox.
  13. Well, they didn't put it to him like I'd have put it to him, but now he is on the 15 day D.L., with no timetable for a return. . http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...as/extra_bases/ Ha-lay-FUCKING-lu-jah! Now if Smoltz has trouble or they decide to give Beckett or Wake a little rest, Buchholz will get his shot, and then Bowden and in an emergency, Masterson. Sounds good to me.
  14. And I'm way confused by the fact that I had the WGN broadcast. I understood that Fox had an exclusive on national broadcasts all day Saturday until 7 PM. When I signed up last year for MLB.TV, the blackout rules were explained as such - no internet TV feed until 7 PM on Saturdays, or for that matter, after 8 PM on Sundays, unless its in your market. Now that we switched from DirectTV to Comcast, I get Sunshine Network broadcasts, and I was confused a few weeks ago when we got a Saturday 1 PM broadcast of a Rays - Red Sox game. Obviously south Florida isn't the Rays "local" market. Color me confused, but not complaining.
  15. AND THAT IS 3 STRAIGHT CUB WINS IN THEIR FINAL AT-BAT!!!!
  16. And indeed, Matzu-SUCKA will miss his next start and have a full battery of tests with the team doctor. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...zaka_bumpe.html Thank God. Next step is to find something, anything, WHATEVER, to put him on the D.L.
  17. Well ... my wife went and looked at the router settings, changed the security settings ... and everything seems to work. The Small's archive recordings don't cut off in the middle, and I managed a download from megaupload. Rapidshare is working kind of weird - it looks like it is stopping but then it resumes, and its definitely not freezing as quickly as it did before. What's strange is why things would get messed up without any appparent changes to anything, then get fixed by changing something that hadn't changed in the first place.
  18. Well this gets more annoying and confusing. Turns out the first tech was an f-ing moron, neglecting to update our phone number when my wife gave it to her (so they couldn't reach us when they called us back since the number was disconnected when we dropped the landline when we switched to Comcast from AT&T), and entering "email problem" on the work ticket. On the other hand, the second tech was a tad smarter as she actually went to Small's website and found that their archive would do the same thing to her - play for a short period then stop. I don't think she went to youtube or megaupload to download but they are getting to work on the issue and are supposed to call back before my wife goes to visit Mom or else on Monday morning.
  19. When I recruited my wife into this situation, she went in whole hog. She spent a while on the phone with Comcast (they've actually been helpful in the past) and they went through a shitload of technical settings with her, none of which changed anything. Now a higher level tech is supposed to call back, and of course its over an hour when they said it would be 15-20 minutes. Definitely not an issue of broadband restriction - my wife now realizes that she seems to have the same problem in her office where she says she had the same problem with youtube - it streams and plays to a certain point, then quits, just like the file downloads proceed to a certain extent and then stop.
  20. Its clear that the configuration/memory/whatever of the PC has nothing to do with this download problem - I used my wife's laptop (wireless connection) to test and once again, everything freezes within a minute or less and never resumes. I am calling Comcast to see what they may do/suggest.
  21. The motherfucking bats went silent against two mediocrities (sorry but unless you're name is Halladay or Verlander, no one who fits into the "half-way decent" category should win so easily at Fenway) and unless they get their shit together, there could very well be a sweep this weekend.
  22. You know, I hate to even mention this out loud, but the Mariner ownership digs Japanese players, and has some pitchers/players it's willing to give up, so maybe.... You can absolutely fucking have him. If you want to give up some semi-warm bodies and pay his salary, fine. If you don't want to pay his salary, give up a couple of slightly warmer bodies. I don't fucking care. I am more interested in seeing Junichi Tazawa in a Boston uniform than this piece of living shit. The kid has made 13 starts, pitched to a 3.15 ERA in AA ball, a WHIP of 1.164 and a 3 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio. He can actually throw a fucking strike regularly. They've set it up so that Smoltz pitches in this asshole's spot and made no reference to the asshole's next start. So at least there is hope that the talk about a six man rotation was dependent on the asshole actually pitching as he is supposedly capable, and not an absolute intent to keep all six. So I am optimistic that they will make a fucking move soon, one way or the other.
  23. He's worse than weak. He absolutely completely fucking sucks shit. This is the great Dice-K? The fucking "Beast"? I'm afraid Theo was sold a fucking bill of goods for what is a fucking piece of totally worthless shit. Sixty day D.L., Dice-K, or an indefinite assignment to Pawtucket. Your fucking choice you worthless asshole.
  24. They are motherfucking stupid if they let Matzu-SUCKA start another game anytime soon. He's a fucking joke, and killing them every fucking time he takes the ball. No fucking way he pitches again. He's told he has a choice: Accept an assignment to AAA, or go on the DL. Your choice, asshole. Then tell him that regardless of what happens with Smoltz, he's lucky to be number two on the depth chart for replacement starters. Buchholz gets the next chance, then its a toss up between him and Bowden. Or else he can accept a trade. Fuck him.
