I think the person to wonder about is Borg, as he quit while still very much in his prime with 11 Slams to his credit. Surely he could have won two or three more French Opens and would have had more than a fighter's chance at Wimbledon but he walked away because he didn't think he could beat McEnroe anymore. If he hadn't, I think Pete and now Roger would have been chasing Borg instead. As for the level of play in the last set, I don't think it was nearly to the level of Federer-Nadal, there were too many easy service games. But the tension was incredible.

Recorded May 23/25, 1967, NYC Art Farmer (tp/flgn), JImmy Heath (ts), Cedar Walton (p), Walter Booker (b), Mickey Roker (d). From the same sessions that produced "Art Farmer Plays the Great Jazz Hits" (Columbia), one of Art's most forgettable records. Have to say I disagree with that assessment. I enjoyed hearing Art on tunes like Moanin' and the others that he covered on the record. But obviously, mileage varies.

I'm glad your call was right as the MFY are making sure that the Blue Jays will be sellers this month. What a pathetic bullpen, and what the hell has happened to BJ Ryan? From unhittable to incapable of getting anyone out. He's gotta be hurt - again.

I gotta say I am shocked Wakefield got chosen for the All-Star game. I mean 10, possibly 11 wins at the break is an accomplishment, and as the second oldest participant its a great achievement, but his ERA is just OK, and matching him up with a catcher who has never caught him in a game before is awfully risky in a game that "counts". With Mauer as the starter and having presumably caught R.A. Dickey, does this mean that Wake will start the game? Or does Wakefield get the honor but won't play unless it goes to extra innings and they might need him for four innings? Cause with someone unfamiliar with catching him, it won't take three or four innings to have a winner. It will be over almost immediately.

Move over Battle of 18-16, there's a new historical moment: The Battle of 16-14!
-
Really? Not a lot of talking on the two sets I've heard in the archives.
-
Now a fifth set, no tie-breaker, and Federer hasn't broken him all day. I really thought he had an opportunity to extend the fourth set there. Now he has to do it in the fifth or this grand slam chance will slip away.
-
Yeah, I thought early in the second set that if Roddick keeps serving like he is and Roger keeps missing forehands like he is, Fed is going to have a disappointing day.
-
Killer Ray Appleton's set is nice if you like your bop hard. Rotondi, DiRubbo and Hazeltine in the band. And I am definitely looking forward to next weekend's appearance, with Brian Lynch and Ian Hendrickson-Smith. I realized last night that with the video feed, I don't have to wait for the music to be added to the archive, I can roll Goldwave and catch it live.
-
I guess Roddick didn't get your memo, HG.

J.H., I presume you mean murder-suicide in the sense of him being the victim. You don't see a lot of suicides with multiple gunshot wounds including the head.
-
Very shocking. Assuming it wasn't murder-suicide, makes you wonder who he was associating with after his career ended.
-
Losers of three out of four, all by the bullpen. Motherfucking pathetic. Now as soon as the MFY push across a run, the lead will be a game, and surely gone before the break. MOTHERFUCKING PATHETIC.

I plan to watch 1776 on DVD tonight but July 4th is no longer a happy holiday around here. Today marks two years since my father-in-law died after a heart attack.

Then you might not juxtapose "jazz fan" and "Clint Eastwood movies" as if there were no connection when we are talking about his best jazz-related film.
-
Not likely buddy, but we'll see.
-
A Clint Eastwood film about a jazz disc jockey.
-
You don't think its ignorant of a jazz fan to not only not know "Play Misty For Me" but to confuse it with whatever movie featured the orangutan? Personally, I find it fucking ignorant, and said so.

Microsoft Windows Live + Outlook Issue
Dan Gould replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Mods, please delete the thread as the issue was never addressed and the issue is moot as Windows Live help desk actually responded in far less than the 24 hours promised. Thanks in advance. -
My wife is freaking out because it appears that Windows Live has somehow determined that she is a spammer (she did have a lot of bounce-back emails from one mortgage office she works with) and have suspended her access to her business email, a huge problem as you might imagine. Right now though her biggest worry regards her outlook account. She is concerned that if she shuts down Outlook, she will lose access to all of her emails. I don't think it should be a concern since once she uses Outlook to download emails from her two Windows Live accounts, those emails exist on her machine, not just on the Windows Hotmail server. So is it safe for her to shut down Outlook? In the meantime, Microsoft is pissing her off even more, because when she logs in it gives her instructions to create a support ticket which will be responded to in "24 hours" but when you click on the help link, it takes her to a searchable help site. Unbelievable that a few bounce-back emails causes them to shut down a business account. As always, thanks in advance!
