  1. but I've gotten this message from Chuck more often.
  2. Already 10-4, so let's call it 19-5. That sounds about fucking right.
  3. And with the piece of shit bullpen in the game this early, what will the final be? 12-5? 15-6? And what are the fucking odds that the Rays will come back and complete their sweep of the Angels?
  4. After this latest fucking debacle is their any doubt whatsoever that Wakefield was needed YESTERDAY and that Clay Buchholz should not be allowed to pitch a single meaningful inning the rest of the season?
  5. They are available very inexpensively on Amazon. Also, I believe that at least the Chambers was reprinted around the turn of the millenium in that "Collector's Choice" series of reissues or whatever it was called where they reprinted some of the early CD titles which had fallen out of print. Well I never did check Amazon to see if titles are listed and at what prices. That's a pretty good reason. Guess I can plan on keeping those.
  6. That makes some sense in terms of volume of sales, but does it keep you from checking the new lists? With the promise of an entire collection being placed for sale, I'd think that curiosity alone would keep the level of page views up. Good deal! I'll keep refreshing my browser in anticipation. <refresh> Not yet. <refresh> Nope.
  7. All I'm saying is that they are mostly just hanging around the postseason chase; its not like he's put them in a great position. Mostly he's kept them in contention because without him they're nowhere, yet with him, they may make golf reservations in October anyway.
  8. Up for more sales, and a few riddles, like, Check out the page views for the various threads: A-B: 1911 C-F: 2169 G-L: 1241 M-Q: 985 R-Comps: 603 Potpourri: 299 Extra Stupendous Sale: 444 I can't get over how page views peaked early on and then steadily declined - is this a function of the time of year, with more people on vacation? Did people lose interest once they got a peak at what was being offered? It really surprises me to realize that without a particular person in NYC, this sale would have been a resounding failure. Then there's this riddle: Why the heck is there no interest in two early 90s BN reissues that to my knowledge have never been out domestically since: Kenny Drew, Talkin & Walkin' Paul Chambers, Chamber's Music, which happens to feature Coltrane Is there no demand because CDRs went far and wide in the past? Are the blogs and b-t sites all over these discs? I can understand if people aren't so keen on TOCJs of Smithville or Sunday Mornin' - they've been out as domestic RVGs and aren't nearly as rare as they used to be. But I really figured these would go when first listed, and yet there they are, still.
  9. Yes but what has he really done for them aside from keep them from falling even further out of the division race, and possibly out of the wild card, too?
  10. Added a rare UK Jack McDuff two-fer (I have no idea how I missed it the first time
  11. I'm up to date for the moment on PMs, but would like to call everybody's attention to the Special Weather Statement that has been added to the first post.
  12. Quit yur bitchin! You won the game, you have one of the biggest leads of the season. You wanna talk infuriating? How about having your ace (in name only because he's pitching like 2007 was the fluke and 2006 is the reality) give up NINE FUCKING RUNS en route to a pathetic 15-4 shellacking at the hands one of the crappiest offenses in the majors, to complete a sweep at home and leave you with no wild card lead at all? That's fucking infuriating.
  13. OK, its time to take one more whack at the prices. Will this be it? In all likelihood, yes. Every remaining CD is listed below Discounts have been applied to Mini-LP, Small Boxes and digi-packs. Take an additional $1 off all discs listed in the A to Compilations section Same deal as before for shipping - $2.50 is the base charge for padded mailers, if you buy 1-4 or so, expect to pay an additional $2-3. Otherwise, exact shipping charges will be quoted. Foreign shipping will be as quoted. Because of the discounts applied to the price of the CDs, Paypal users will be charged a fee of 3%. Paypal is still encouraged, but I'd like to minimize my losses, and really the fee isn't much to pass on but it adds up with the volume of sales. Jewel boxes are available in extremely limited quantities at an additional cost of $1 each. Please do not submit offers, this discount program is the approach I am taking to clear out the balance of my CDs. And before we get on to the list, a message for all package recipients of the past week and the coming few days: There is a missing set of Horace Silver inserts which I believe got stuck together and shipped to the wrong buyer. Please check your packages carefully and send me a PM if you find it. Thanks! 14. Well, the obvious way is to ask Youk to play LF, and send Jason Bay away. Bay is signed at a reasonable cost for one more year and is obviously an all-around talent. Shouldn't be too hard to move him. Of course that also requires asking Youk to move to LF, where its a given that his skills will not be nearly as good as they are in the infield corners, beyond the fact that its really pretty disrespectful of a reigning Gold Glove first baseman. If the team is serious about getting younger though, they should keep Bay, move Youk to third and figure out a way to send Mikey Lowell away. Of the three, I think he's the weakest offensively, and more likely to decline going forward. Make no mistake, I like Lowell a lot, but keeping Bay and Youk and adding Teix to a team that is otherwise very young (Jacoby, Pedroia, Lowrie) would give us an extraordinary group of every day players to go with a great group of young or in their prime starters. Dynasty city! And a great contrast with the Yankees who are still lacking in the ability to deliver major league quality position players and will most likely keep running Damon, Abreu and the rapidly aging Jeter, Posada and A-Rod out there. Our only "aging" problem would be Tek, if they keep him, and Drew, who isn't in his decline phase yet but will be by the time that contract expires.
  15. Hey, it is what it is. I smell another three-game sweep around the corner. ... So, do you ever feel like just giving up guessing what the Rangers will do??? Glad to see one of the 5 guys from the Tex trade (Harrison) is starting to pay off....I bet by the time all is said and done, it's going to look like that Boof Bonser, Francisco Liriano, and Joe Nathan for A.J. Pierzynski trade, I betya.... And wasn't it the "veteran ace" that Al hates who threw the shutout, or at least pitched shutout ball? Its the beauty of baseball - the crappier you look, the more likely it is that a win is coming. The Yankees can explain it in great detail, as they've had great practice looking crappy.
  16. Well I was pretty pissed at the Royals, and then the Twins, and then Paul Byrd but then I brightened up a little because of the Rangers. But no expletives were deleted.
  17. I honestly didn't pay that much attention, I just knew that something was being inserted where it ought not to be. But I'm glad you're doing well, and I can at least identify with the idea of something being inserted there, if not actually the sensation.
  18. Reminds me of when I was in the recovery room after the bone marrow donation procedure. I was kind of slow to recover from the spinal anesthesia but I had a somewhat full bladder. So the nurse had to catheterize me. Its really no problem if you still have spinal anesthesia in you. Too bad that's not an option if its only a five minute procedure otherwise.
  19. And don't forget, the trading deadline used to be BEFORE the all-star break! (Mid-June, if I recall correctly) Before my time (or at least before I paid this much attention). I won't comment on what that would make you.
  20. Congratulations and Best Wishes to the happy couple, Ed!
  21. Waivers are definitely set up to encourage the non-movement of players. The idea is to keep it from being easy for a contender to improve their team, and I think that's a good thing. Remember too that players who are not on the roster as of August 31 (or September 1, can't remember which) are ineligible for post-season play. Something else that keeps a good team from getting better, or leaves them more at the mercy of their competition. But the idea of blocking players goes back a ways, and its what makes the non-waiver deadline of the last day of July at 4 PM ET an important part of the season.
  22. The Rays have come too far to miss the playoffs! - and to do that and let the Yanks get in would require that they play one game under .500 while the Yanks play .700+ the rest of the way. Of course I wouldn't mind if the Rays struggle and the Sox can catch them, then they'd at least have home field for the first round while the Rays can deal with the Halos. At least the Rays should do OK this weekend against the Rangers, if they pitch a little and hit a little (easier to do the latter) (sorry Al). But then they get the Angels, so hopefully we'll close the gap by this time next week.
  23. Alex has changed his view of the afterlife?
  24. Actually, don't they have Beckett, Dice-K, Lester, Buchholz and Masterson all under their control for at least two years? And of course Wakefield has a lifetime contract; if he doesn't have any lingering shoulder issues, I'd expect them to pick up the next option year. That would put one of Buccholz and Masterson as the sixth starter, and Bowden backing him up. Really there is no reason to go after a back of the rotation guy unless they really want added depth. The bigger issue going forward is replacing Manny's production, and I think they will make a very hard play for Teixeira, with Bay or, less likely, Youk, on the trading bloc if they're successful.
  25. Actually I think the system is perfect as it is and would even say that if our positions were switched. It would be kind of silly if you could block a move and then the guy could go back on waivers - there'd be no point to the waiver process then. But by doing it in order of record, and for your league before the other, it gives teams that are chasing the ability to block moves that may help the team you are chasing. So better teams can't automatically get better if they can work a deal, lower teams can make blocking maneuvers. We'll see if teams like the Yankees letting Byrd slip through comes back to haunt them.
