Oh, yeah right. Who spent the better part of a week disrupting my A to Z thread and insulting me? Leading Evan to tell you quit it and delete your crap from my thread so people can read through it without your bullshit. No, you don't care a bit about my presence. Dan, you've always acted like an asshole to me. No respect here. From your first attacks in the political forum and running away from that forum to that drunken rant on the Babe thread Saturday night...and todays obnoxious posts...it's all just flame bait after that first time you gave me a personal attack out of the blue for voicing my opinion in the Political forum. And if you want to post your CD collection on the internet, author a web page so there's no dialog about your damm collection and you don't have an insecurity fit if someone makes some smartass remark. Read the thread, asshole. Quite a few people are interested, and quite a few have posted questions about the CDs I've listened to so far. In short, fuck off.

Glad to hear it, Evan! And no, Mike, the theme isn't the blues or covers of famous tunes!
-
Real simple. Do a search of your posts. Delete everything that consists solely of some variation of Delete your "contributions" to the Babe Thread. What do we have left? Insults directed at me, and insults directed at Dubya, and that's about it. That's called padding your posts. Your time here is dedicated to it.

No.

You should be embarrased, since it came with its own sleeve pocket! Seriously, I hope it shows up, there's much more good stuff on Disc 1!
-
Glad you enjoyed it!

I have no idea why there'd be distortion, but, assuming you own a burner, I'd make a burn of the burn and see if that fixes it. Also, if you are burning on the PC, whatever program you use should have the capability of extracting the CD-format tracks into wav files. Then an audio program would let you listen to them in that format, see if there's still distortion. Then you can reburn.

Dave Brubeck this coming Saturday...
Dan Gould replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
I think Aggie is right. If I remember correctly, my Father-in-Law claimed an affection for jazz and cited Miss Matsui as a favorite. He even sent a disc of hers to my wife. We hated it immediately and couldn't listen to it all the way through. -
From the link: Initial focus group testing in late 2003 brought exceptional response. Soon, a beta testing will begin on a local radio station. Plans are for a nationwide rollout of the format protocol in early 2005. What's amazing is the idea that this will work and sweep the nation. The people who want to hear "It's My Party" or, heaven help us, "The Lion Sleeps Tonite," want to hear the ENTIRE song. On top of that, the biggest complaint radio listeners have is DJ chatter over songs. So what's gonna happen? Will they produce a 90 second song edit with a thirty second ramp for the jock to talk over? No freakin' way this thing takes off. One other thought: there are Christian fascists who do their own editing of Hollywood films for language or sexual content, clean it up for other Christian Fascists. If I recall correctly, this has led to lawsuits as a violation of the copyrights of the film owners. Is this kind of music editing any different?

Errors and Contradictions in the Bible

Let me guess: And then you happily sat together on the couch, breaking wind together. Edit for the winky, even though it was obviously implied. -
Speaking of lefty relievers, the Sox made a dandy situational lefty pickup, Mike Myers I believe is his name. Six lefties up, six lefties down, and righties are 1 for 5 against him. Got a big out last night with a run lead and a runner at first in the 8th, before Manny had his adventure with the fly ball in left. Which brings me to the real reason for my post: The Sox are RED HOT (12 of their last fifteen, six in a row) and the Yanks are ICE COLD. And the lead, which was 10 1/2 games barely a week ago, is down to 5 1/2. The only thing that will help the Yanks now is the fact that they get Cleveland, which went ice cold recently too. But 5 1/2 with 40 to play, and six head-to-head games? I'll take my chances.

"We'll Meet Again" in the 60s. Why?
Dan Gould replied to A Lark Ascending's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I'm utterly shocked, considering Bev's age and general political outlook (not to say its not a classic to a lot of right wingers, too). -
Errors and Contradictions in the Bible

The ark was raptured out of the earth when Nebuchadnezzar's armies invaded Jerusalem and destroyed Solomon's Temple (where, of course, the ark was housed, in the most holy place). It is seen in Heaven in Revelation 11:19: "And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament ... " Wow, things get "raptured out" just like people? So I guess this "Rapture" thing isn't like the time travel device in The Terminator movies, right? You remember, Reece wasn't a techie, but he knew that only living tissue could go through .... -
Sorry about that, though I'm pretty sure I copied exactly what you sent me. Anyway, it got there, and hardly any longer than other European deliveries.

Speaking of the grocery store, how about incompetent baggers?

Discuss disc #2 here.
-
Oh heck, I'm home from work, that means the weekend's started. So let's start talking 'bout my wonderful taste in music. Seriously, I hope people enjoyed the discs. I'd like to remind everyone that there is a theme here, an element which unites every track. I also spent a good deal of time on the programming of tunes, both in the juxtoposition of certain tunes, and the overall programming arc which I hope is evident. Looking forward to the discussions-but don't expect me to give any hints, or acknowledge any correct guesses!

Never warmed to Blue Spirits; I think I had it twice in the past, actually. I seem to remember a mix of edgier tunes with more standard hard bop (guess which I preferred). Haven't missed it, and guess what? Neither a new RVG mastering nor the raves of this thread are giving me any urge to revisit it. See? You can ignore the siren call of this board to spend, spend spend ...

I couldn't identify the tenor at the time. I might do better now 30+ years later. I don't remember being very impressed with the date at the time. Yeah, its really one of those things that only mad collectors like some of the people here would want to hear, or want to know who the tenor was ... we're nuts like that. Of course, Roy Haynes is still alive, someone should ask him if he remembers the gig. I'm sure he does, after all he's only done, what, a few thousand gigs in his sixty years in the business? B-)
-
Any idea who the unidenfied tenor could be?
-
Someone should direct Mike Fitzgerald's attention to that ebay auction, it sounds like he's got some corrections to make to the Transition discography.

Tailgaters are scum-suckers. Anyone else watch someone roar up behind them and think to yourself, "I'm going to introduce this jerk to the speed limit," and then watch him turn assorted shades of purple?

Well, we're at 21 arrived, so I'll start the discussion Saturday morning, I think.
