Don't you think they would have pursued Santana even more if they knew this ?....like throw in the guys they wanted . I just don't think Bucholz is ready for prime time , there was even talk in Boston that he would start the season in Pawtucket.

Where is it back ordered on Newbury Comics website ?...i tell you something about Newbury Comics they are all over the place for pricing . I went into one of their stores and bought a cd for $5.99 and then looked on amazon and the same cd was $39.99 . So i wouldn't be surprised if this goes thru , i think they treat the Amazon marketplace and the online store ( and ebay) and the stores all differently.

It doesn't surprise me but I think that the writers are just looking for something to report. I am kind of surprised that they can't sweeten the deal with a fourth prospect to get it done, but maybe there's a chance of a really terrific Christmas present in the next two weeks. Thats what Felger said last night, he thinks the Twins are trying to bait the yankees back into the deal and are using the Sox. He also said which is a good point , if the Sox really want to complete this deal they would just put in lester with ellsbury and prospects. That should get the deal done . Felger also said that Masterson is really just a middle relief guy ???.....I thought this guy was suppose to be a future ACE ?

It looks like the Santana deal for the Sox is still in the works , now the Twins are interested in the Ellsbury part of the deal .

The Lester package includes Coco and Masterson and some other guy i never heard of. So this would be good news cause it keeps Ellsbury in Boston.

Youk being part of the deal i heard on the boston fox channel they claimed from sources in the Sox organization. Tonight Bob Lobel reported Ellsbury as part of deal but no Lester .( Dan Roche reports on the sox for wbz and he is a real insider). I also believe that Bucholz is part of the deal / ...have you heard this Dan ?

Red Sox are really pushing for Santana they have added Youk to the mix . Crisp, lester, Youk and some minor league prospects. Youk is only making 400,000 a year so he is cheap and will be for a few more years. This deal could get done ?

I think the sox should wait on Santana if he doesn't get traded then grab him from the free agent market. I also think resigning Schill means they want to keep Bucholz and Lester, they now have a legit #3 with Schill and he can help mentor these kids. Cabrera scares me ,if he tends to gain weight now at his age ......it won't get easier ! I can't imagine Theo trading Youk ..he LOVES this guy and his OBP.

There has also been talk that Coco could be dealt to the Braves , and the feeling is he would do better in the NL because he is a fastball hitter and thats what he would see in the NL. Epstein has told people that the name that comes up most in trade talks is DelCarmen !

Cabrera is probably going to be on the move, but he's an interesting situation: incredibly talented hitter appears to have a serious eating/conditioning problem seems like a lot of people question his attitude/commitment to excellence Its also clear that he is meant to be a DH in the American League and won't be doing anyone a lot of favors playing third base anymore. But oh what a hitter! If I were the Marlins, I'd hold out for more of the great pitching prospects before I'd take Melky from the Yanks. The biggest potential trade out there though has to be Johan Santana, with one year left before free agency. Its pretty clear the Twins can't or refuse to afford to keep him and the biggest question in my mind is whether the Yankees and Sox would bid with their youngsters to get him. If you had a guarantee that you could sign him to a long-term deal, I think I'd do something along the lines of Coco/Hansen/MDC/Masterson but the Twins would probably insist on Ellsbury and/or Lester/Buchholz. It would certainly take a king's ransom, the question is would it be worth it. Stay tuned. They wont move Ellsbury !!!!!!....the talk by Sean McAdam is Coco, Lester.Hansen or DelCarmen for Santana !

I just watched the parade and the chants to resign Lowell were unbelievable and the fans who came out and said he was their fave player . But i do agree with you Dan he will be 34 and he does tail off in the 2nd half (except this year). BUT the chants of DONT SIGN A-ROD was just as deafening at the Parade This could be a HARD sell to Sox fans .......i for one love A-Rod and think they should go for it , it will be very interesting he is not well liked here !

It's more than the layoff , last night on the postgame show Eck said how McCarver called Francis a high ball pitcher . Eck said your not gonna get the job done being a high ball pitcher throwing 88 on your fast ball. Not to the Sox , and he also said francis has only a decent curve.

Does anyone think the layoff hurt the Rockies ?

Keeping Gagne on the roster is stupid and they left Tavarez off ........what did Tavarez do ? they really don't like this guy . Remember the Rockies kept asking for Tavarez in trades because they felt he would do well in coors field lots of ground balls. Francona can be real stubborn with his allegiance to veterans .......but still no excuse putting gagne on the roster .
