  1. this is the funniest quote a FEW more dollars ???.....it's 28 million !!!!!!
  2. I fully understand your point, Larsen. The problem I have is not that Bonds shouldnt get an astrisk, it is it needs to be proved first. That's all I'm saying here. The secondary issue is that muscle mass does not make you hit HRs. Vision, timing and skill make that happen. Ask any ballplayer who has hit a HR and they will tell you the very same thing. And I will say this until my dying day. I am around baseball coaches and players all spring long [i announce basball games]...in fact, one of my former students is in the big leagues right now playing OF for the Royals [shane Costa] and not one of them, almost to a man, will tell [except for the hated dodger fans] you a HR is not hit because you're the biggest or strongest guy on the team. Even the former pros I have spoken to say the same exact thing. I believe a man is innocent until proven guilty and a media lynching isn't proof, my friend. It's a great point look at Ted Williams he hit 521 homers and he was not muscle bound , in fact compared to todays players he was down right thin !
  3. No we are not because it is the DUMBEST FUCKING THING you've said to date, and considering the other extraordinarily stupid things you've said, its a title to be taken seriously. Isn't the biggest gain from steroids the recovery ? when i lifted it would wipe me out for days, so these guys can recover quicker lift more often and create the muscle mass. Goodspeak is kinda right , look at Sam Horn he was a big dude but didn't hit hundreds of home runs like Bonds. You have to have the whole total package a good eye , bat speed etc etc.. I don't think steriods increases your bat speed ?? .......does it ?
  4. What i don't get is everyone thinks Bonds is cheating and everyone here thinks Roger juiced up BUT he gets rewarded with 20 million plus a new hummer accolades from the NY media and fans ..... isn't he a cheater ?
  5. Well, he is certainly not showing the devastating repertoire he was supposed to have. For the hype, he ought to be 5-0 with an ERA around 2.5 right now. I didn't have a problem with the money spent, because half of it went to his former team, not him, and they did hang tough in the negotiation. If they had been so desperate to get him and truly believed he'd refuse the final offer and go back to Japan, they would have been paying him 12 or more million right now instead of an average of about 8 million over the next six years. If he stops having so many games marred by temporary loss of the strike zone/command, he'll be very much worth it at the actual salary they are paying. At least he's settled down since then, and the offense has picked him up. 7-5 Boston. well remember he didn't get any run support in his first 3 games he could (should) of been 5-0 going into tonights game.
  6. anyone see the catch Coco Crisp made last night ?.......Damn........2 nights in a row he made incredible catches.
  7. which issue? it's in the new 40 th anniversary issue, it just hit the stands.

  9. Eck just said on the post game that it was embarrassing that Abreu tried to bunt in the #3 spot 3 days in a row !! I don't think the yanks could beat Texas or Seattle right now. The other thing about Torre which i never gave much thought ( and this is from Eck) is that he burns out his Bullpens even in the past when he had Gordon.
  10. the guys on ESPN said the Pats are the FAVES to win the Supa Bowl !!!
  11. I don't think one win is a season changer the yankees have DEEP problems with pitching and one game doesn't change that .....i guess Torre doesn't like Igawa but he really doesn't have any choice . What ever happened to Pavano ?

  13. Boy do the yankees look bad 7 straight losses.........Dice K was allright except for that one inning.

  16. Beckett won his Fifth game in April joining only Babe Ruth and Pedro as Red Sox who have done that.
  17. There was some speculation that Manny was wearing earplugs and listening to music while playing left field. i guess there is a type of sunglasses that has a built in radio ??..i dunno ....i just remember that was the buzz on weei here in Boston a few years back

  20. where ever they are printing these box covers i hope they are getting a discount the Roy Eldridge cover could of used a little more contrast. I'am sure the photo is a little underexposed but the whites in his shirt is blown out which means they could have printed the image darker. And now with photoshop this is easily fixed by using the contrast levels.......wouldn't you think they send someone to the press run ?
  21. I think back in Barry's non-steroid days he was exciting to watch....now he bats a few times a game a few days a week, provides very little excitement on the base paths or in field....not really that exciting (to me). m~ Non-steroids day...? I wasn't aware there was any proof to that effect. Besides, he's 42 years old and with bad knees. Anybody would slow done at that point. For the record, Bonds was MVP seven times before being accused. The rumors/accusations date back to at least to 2001, the season he hit 73 dingers. Check out the photos from his early career and then look at him beginning in '99 http://espn.go.com/mlb/gallery/19379070.html well them Clemens must of done steroids too cause if you look at early photos of the rocket and now look at him. He looks triple the size. It's funny how no one sees this ? No one sees it????? DUDE, I barely follow sports anymore and I've been hearing stuff about Clemens juicing for years! Well to be honest here in Boston they really don't talk much about Clemens on the juice ...you never hear it. in fact tomorrow i'am shooting with a client who just loves Clemens i can't say a bad word about him. Here in Boston on sports radio it's Bonds ,Sosa, McGuire.....never Clemens or Nomar.

  23. Yeah but Dice-K has looked absolutely horrible at the worst time. I think part of the problem at the start was the pitch selection. He's been setting up hitters with breaking pitches at the start, and I think that Varitek said to himself, "the Yankees have seen him doing this, let's start with fastballs tonite" and it really hasn't worked. When he's gotten them out, he's thrown first pitch strikes with off speed stuff. Meanwhile Pettite is on in relief for the second time in this young season. Think Torre is desperate for a win here? Unbelievable. I guess the second day after a start you're supposed to throw a bullpen, but asking Pettite to come in? He did it earlier when the pitching was so terrible, but there are a bunch of guys who didn't throw yesterday - obviously Torre has no faith in any of them. Then again, the old man got a DP grounder from Papi so I guess it worked - he gave him an inning and didn't get hurt in the process. I just can't believe how bad Dice-K was. Hitting A-Rod, hitting Jeter. I swear, he acts and talks so confidently but I think he's giving these big bad Major League hitters too much respect and letting them into his head. He was afraid of Frank Thomas and walked him in that single disastrous inning in Toronto, now he decides to throw inside to A-Rod, hits him. Inside to Jeter, hits him. Pedro would go up there and throw his pitches and say "hit it if you can, punk." I expected this guy to have the same attitude but he ain't showing it to me. The question will be what he does next Friday in the Bronx. I'm sure there are a bunch of Yankee fans who will look at this game and say, "we've seen him, he doesn't have much, we're gonna crush him next time" and I honestly can't say that I disagree. Dan , i think Dice K will be fine i do the same thing comparing him to Pedro but thats not fair Pedro was special and it will be a very long time before you see the likes of him again. I still say that all the hype around Dice K is setting unreasonable expectations this is all new to him and the level of talent he faces in the AL is like none he has ever faced. He will be fine i for one was glad to see him pitch inside and plunk A-Rod. And if he got the run support in his last 2 games he would be 4-0 !
  24. No home runs for Mr. April today !!!!!!!
