  1. How about Pedroia at short ( he played there at Pawtucket), youk at second and keep lowell at third. Lugo is starting to look like a liability since he feels he needs to field all positions !
  2. Sabathia and Carmona have a combined 27.00 era in this series and a combined 0-3 record. WOW , thats amazing these were the guys we feared. Tomorrow night DICE-K , ya gotta think he will come up with a good game . He did have some great games this year and his record is decieving. He lost a few games 2-1 and 3-2 the SOX did not give him a lot of run support especially early in the season. Tomorrow night should be fun and every one is available including beckett !
  3. 10-1 SOX !!!......and Ellsbury drove in a run and the GREAT JD Drew comes ALIVE !!!!!!!!
  4. Francona has Jacoby Ellsbury batting 8th tonight !!!
  5. Westbrook was helped out by the umpire ...Manny took ball 4 and it was called a strike and then hit into a double play.
  6. Dan, Doesn't this Ellsbury kid remind you of a young Johhny Damon ?
  7. Yea , Elston Howard broke up that no hitter and then was traded to the Sox later in the season. That was the game that Yaz made that incredible catch !
  8. First Red Sox Rookie to pitch a No Hitter ......AMAZING !!!!.....
  9. Clay Bucholz is 3 outs from a NO-NO.......this kid looks impressive Dan. I would keep him in rotation and get tavarez back to the pen !
  10. As far as Schilling goes, why was it that it was THEO who went to Thanksgiving dinner at Curt's house to convince him that he could succeed as a fly-ball pitcher at Fenway? Have you taken a look at the way Arroyo has pitched this year? His WHIP is way up, and his ERA makes him league average. NL teams have figured him out the same way that AL teams had figured him out. I'm not saying that Wily Mo has done anything for us and he'll probably get released in the next couple of weeks, but Arroyo ain't doing shit for Cincinnati either. As far as Lowell goes, I love the guy but let's keep in mind how he has always, until this season, faded terribly after the ASB. They're likely to wait on A-Rod before they decide to re-sign him. And as for Lugo and Drew - how many more bust out seasons do you need to see from the Renteria's of this world to learn that you can't make judgements based on not even a full season's worth of games? Are you even aware that Lugo is hitting .297 since July 1st? And whatever Theo said about Beckett, it was his decision to give him an extension in the middle of last season. Your anger at Theo is extremely misplaced. Trust me i'm not the only guy up here in beantown that feels this way.......they are debating on EEI if Wily Mo is the worst outfielder in Red Sox history. Yes but wouldn't you rather have Arroyo pitching this year than Tavarez granted he did a decent job but Arroyo would be a better pitcher with the sox than the woeful Reds. And remember he wanted to trade Manny and Nomah for A-Rod and if he did most likely no World Series victory. Of course i give him credit for the Nomie for Cabrera deal. BUT the guy helps win a world series and they won't sign him due to some clubhouse hijinx or whatever, supposedly Cabrera treated clubhouse personnel like they were dirt . Look at Cabreras stats ....308 avg. 143 hits ..347 OBP that should wake up Theo he LOOOOVES OBP Luchino and Henry are Pros they knew sending him to Curts for Turkey would seal the deal ......young hip guy talking shop curt loves that crap. They played both of them.... it's business. And i really think he gave up too much in the Gagne deal , i'm not so concerned with Gabbard cause i think he will always battle arm trouble but i dunno about Murphy and remember Theo wanted Piniero as the closer .......seriously that was the thought ???? i actually do like Lugo except that he takes too many time outs ..but i would rather have Cabrera
  11. The problem with the Red Sox is Theo Epstein has made some of the worst trades and decisions in Red Sox history . The Arroyo trade for Wily Mo has to go down as the worst trade in Sox history. His Man crush on Julio Lugo and the huge contract to Drew are Huge mistakes. And once the season is over they will let Mike Lowell go , one of the best if not the best 3rd baseman in the AL. Also remember it was Theo that said he would never had made the deal for Beckett??...what kind of moron would say that. Beckett and Lowell are the only reasons the Sox have a lead at this point. And i don't wanna hear, but he got Schilling on Thanksgiving in 03 that was Lucchino who was told by Henry to get the deal done !....Epstein was too green to accomplish that on his own ,but the red sox always push him out to the front as part of their PR machine. The Red Sox don't need to win the division or go to the playoffs , they are too busy broadcasting SOX APPEAL a Dating game program that is filmed during games!!!!!.......a guy sits up in the right field stands while 3 different women are quizzed by him on their likes and dislikes ???.....and then the crowd behind holds up signs with rating numbers for each woman.....all DURING A GAME ........thats what so funny the SOX management don't care about the game. Gagne ? Gagne who ? all they care about is how many episodes of SOX APPEAL they can film to fill air time on NESN .
  12. The Red Sox are stacked with pitching prospects the word here in Boston was that Gabbard was at his highest trading value . Sean Mcadam of the providence journal predicted this trade a week ago. In his view Gabbard is a #4 maybe a #3 starter the sox have Beckett, Dice-K ,Lester, Bucholz and Mike Bowden who they are very high on. This is a GREAT deal for the Sox especially since they learned that Donnely is having season ending Tommy John surgery.
  13. here is a link of all the great stuff in the Berkshires http://www.berkshirerentals.net/museums.htm Check out the Wharton house and Williams College Museum of art which has some some rare works and from big name artists it's always a pleasant surprise stopping in there !
  14. Don't miss going to The Berkshires , Lenox , Stockbridge and Great Barrington. Actually in Great Barrington there is a cool book store called Yellow book store the owner is a HUGE Jazz fan and has quiet an assortment of jazz books. I once bought a very nice autographed picture of Louis Armstrong from him. Also in Stockbridge is the Norman Rockwell museum which will really surprise you i never really thought much of his work BUT one visit to the museum changed that in a hurry. DO NOT MISS this : The Chesterwood House: Located in Stockbridge, MA, Chesterwood is the early 20th century country home of sculptor Daniel Chester French, who sculpted the extraordinary seated Abraham Lincoln for the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. Over 500 pieces of sculpture are collected at Chesterwood and French's original studio. The house, gardens, central fountain and the lovely vista of 120 acres of rolling estate are all accessible to visitors of the property. This place blows me away everytime the Estate is unbelievabley beautiful and his studio is very cool !!!
  15. Well you were right about Lee but I'm very disappointed that Gabbard pitched so well right until they broke it open, then he fell apart and now he can't get the win. Ironically Tavarez would get the win if they hang on. Good news from Pawtucket though: Schilling threw 64 pitches over five innings, struck out eight, allowed two hits and no runs. One more rehab start and then he returns the first week of August. And I have to say it sounds like the rest and the shoulder strengthening work has done wonders. If we get the Schill of 2001-2004 back, I like our chances. Hell I might even endorse bringing him back for 2008. Nah. thats 2 great rehab starts why waste him on another bring him up !
  16. Damn when Wily Mo puts lumber to the ball does that thing fly , surprised the indians are giving him so many fastballs ?
  17. Boston media guys were just discussing on FSN that Boras is influencing Dice K's pitch count ?( first i have heard of this)..he only threw 99 pitches and i thought he could of came out for the 8th. They were saying that Theo and Boras are too buddy buddy and this could lead to the Teixeira deal. Jacoby for Teixeira thats the rumour.
  18. I was 7 sat with my parents in their bed and watched it on small tv with the rabbit ears on top didn't know whether the bad reception was from the moon or the rabbit ears had to be adjusted ?
  19. Jon Lester just got called up and i believe will pitch tomorrow night . They are bumping Tavarez to the bullpen FINALLY !!!!!!! Its great news even though Lester really hasn't pitched lights out at AAA. I'm glad they got Julian out of there though I'm not sure if Lester will make a triumphant return. I'll be very curious what they do to clear the roster spot. Javier Lopez has options left so he'd be easiest to move but that would leave the bullpen without a situational lefty, which doesn't make a lot of sense playing the Indians. Delcarmen certainly doesn't remotely deserve a demotion and has been groomed to be the righty 8th inning guy. I'd hate for them to decide that Timlin is ready to return to that role and send MDC down. My best hope is that they move Piniero. With Schilling having such a good rehab start, this is the best I've felt about the team since the ASB. You got your wish Dan , Piniero has been reassigned Just saw that, and he was obviously the odd man out and I'm glad they recognized it. Too bad with him DFA'd, teams will most likely wait out the ten days and leave us on the hook for the remainder of his salary. Aren't you glad Paps went back to being closer? Its scary to think that this was the guy they were hoping would take over that spot, and now this is where we are with him. Paps had trouble today loading the bases and then facing Thome and Konerko. I'm glad he is the closer, BUT i still get a little scared he will wear down like last year Ya got to wonder if the Sox will keep him in that role next year if they can find someone in the offseason. A rotation of Beckett, Dice -K, Lester, Paplebon and Gabbard would be hard to beat !
  20. Zen is a school of Mahāyāna Buddhism notable for its emphasis on practice and experiential wisdom—particularly as realized in the form of meditation known as zazen—in the attainment of awakening. I'd rather not be awaken by Toro!
  21. Around here lawns go dormant during the summer the combo of heat and NO rain. The vast majority of lawns in our area consist of cool-season grasses, such as Kentucky bluegrass, These grasses naturally slow down and may go dormant in the heat of summer; thus they do not need lots of extra care for the next several weeks.
