  1. Carolyn "Sister of" Franklin – If You Want Me
  2. Roscoe Holcomb - Close To Home
  3. Butch Hancock – West Texas Waltzes & Dust-blown Tractor Tunes
  4. My record collection is small and split across three shelves. The shelves are "Nice Jazz" (also including some Classical), "Evil Jazz" and "Not-Jazz". The evil jazz section is divided off so that my wife knows not to play those records when friends around, although she sometimes does for effect. Oddly the 6 year has recently started to explore Evil Jazz. Not sure what he really gets out of it.
  5. My only consolation is that, with this purchase, my 'Evil Jazz' shelf is now finally full. One in one out from here on in. And the kids didn't really need those new shoes.
  6. (Very quiet and shamefaced) Discogs. I feel very foolish.
  7. Oh dear. I may have accidentally fallen off the wagon. Please don't tell my family.
  8. I'll try it on them
  9. My kids love that fairy story. Not a favourite of mine but it speaks to them.
  10. Sorry, I realise that it is actually called "Jug Ain't Gone", not "Jug's Not Dead".
  11. Richard And Linda Thompson – I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight Globe Unity Orchestra - Pearls
  12. I love that version of The Train Kept a Rolling. Like a lot of British blues stuff, its secret weapon is that it is a bit inept.
  13. Same. It is lonely at the top. Nothing left to achieve.
  14. Allen Lowe - At The Moment of Impact...
  15. Every second Friday. I find some pretty interesting stuff there some days.
  16. I found it in Spitalfields Market one day. Not too expensive. And yes, I think it is on the Thurston Moore list. Good guess.
  17. Chaos and malignancy. Finally together. Leave the entry level Brotzmanns at the door. This is a reissue from a few years back. Not the original. Although I think that Honest Jons East has an original for £200.
  18. Arthur Doyle Plus 4 – Alabama Feeling Saturday morning with the most chaotically malign of all free jazz records
  19. Sun Ra – Lanquidity
  20. Its very good. Probably my favourite record with Coryell on.
  21. Stanley Turrentine – Everybody Come On Out
  22. I've got a Brotzmann t shirt that I love. It is the cover of Nipples where they look like art school students in a hardcore punk band.
  23. I meant more in terms of genre. I don't know any other Little Milton records except for the pretty good Grits. That blues / soul crossover moment is a sweet spot for me. Obviously Bobby Blue rules the roost there, but I love a record like Otis Cray's Trying To Live My Life Without You.
  24. Steve Marcus – Count's Rock Band
