Was that from Atlantis? It's a great record. I'm very jealous.

Wow. An original?

Alterations – Up Your Sleeve Again, promoted by the recent feature on Steve Beresford in the Wire. This clique of musicians really was up to something at that time. Fun stuff.

I always liked "The Bath of Surprise" by Steve Beresford and "Weasels Ripped my Flesh" by the Mothers of Invention.

Roscoe Mitchell - Nonaah

Steve Beresford & Anne Marie Beretta – Dancing The Line No idea either. It was mentioned in the recent issue of the Wire, so I'm streaming it on YT.

Large Ensemble Jazz Recordings in the 21st Century
Rabshakeh replied to HutchFan's topic in Recommendations
What are we saying is a big band? I have always operated on the basis of big band = >10. If a tentet is a big band then those Chicago Tentet records have to be in there. They’re fantastic. I don’t know those KV records. For me he is a Gerry Mulligan figure: I don’t care about his playing much but great writer and arranger and the stuff he’s on tends to just work better because of his presence. -

Ivo Perelman Double Trio – Suite For Helen F. Just finished on this one: Robert Farnon & Tony Coe – Pop Makes Progress

Roscoe Mitchell and Nicole Mitchell's Black Earth Ensemble - Three Compositions: Live at Sant'Anna Arresi Nice idea and I like the Black Earth Ensemble, but I don't think the group is really right for the compositions.

Ornette Coleman – The Shape Of Jazz To Come I think to an extent that first track dominates my own understanding of the record too. During the CD and MP3 age, which is when I was listening to the record most, the temptation to change midway through the second track was always quite strong. Yesterday I was really struck by how much more I enjoyed the whole record on LP.
