  1. Was that from Atlantis? It's a great record. I'm very jealous.
  2. Joe McPhee - Tenor
  3. Alterations – Up Your Sleeve Again, promoted by the recent feature on Steve Beresford in the Wire. This clique of musicians really was up to something at that time. Fun stuff.
  4. I always liked "The Bath of Surprise" by Steve Beresford and "Weasels Ripped my Flesh" by the Mothers of Invention.
  5. Basil Mannenberg Coetzee and Lionel Pillay – Shrimp Boats
  6. Roscoe Mitchell - Nonaah
  7. Steve Beresford & Anne Marie Beretta – Dancing The Line No idea either. It was mentioned in the recent issue of the Wire, so I'm streaming it on YT.
  8. Sam Rivers and Tony Hymas - Eight Day Journal
  9. What are we saying is a big band? I have always operated on the basis of big band = >10. If a tentet is a big band then those Chicago Tentet records have to be in there. They’re fantastic. I don’t know those KV records. For me he is a Gerry Mulligan figure: I don’t care about his playing much but great writer and arranger and the stuff he’s on tends to just work better because of his presence.
  10. The Charles Moffett Family – Vol. 1
  11. Grupa Organowa Krzysztofa Sadowskiego – Na Kosmodromie Polish Van Der Graaf Generator.
  12. Richard Galliano and Michel Portal - Blow Up
  13. Charles Mingus - Cornell 1964
  14. Ray Barretto - The Other Road
  15. Ivo Perelman Double Trio – Suite For Helen F. Just finished on this one: Robert Farnon & Tony Coe – Pop Makes Progress
  16. Roscoe Mitchell and Nicole Mitchell's Black Earth Ensemble - Three Compositions: Live at Sant'Anna Arresi Nice idea and I like the Black Earth Ensemble, but I don't think the group is really right for the compositions.
  17. Kees Hazevoet / Han Bennink – Calling Down The Flevo Spirit
  18. Urs Blöchlinger – Cinéma Invisible
  19. Ornette Coleman – The Shape Of Jazz To Come I think to an extent that first track dominates my own understanding of the record too. During the CD and MP3 age, which is when I was listening to the record most, the temptation to change midway through the second track was always quite strong. Yesterday I was really struck by how much more I enjoyed the whole record on LP.
  20. Revolutionary Ensemble – Manhattan Cycles
  21. I realised my error. Weep.
  22. Ken Vandermark and Mats Gustafsson - Verses
  23. I really like Emergency Peace.
  24. Barbara Donald & Unity – Olympia Live I listened to this one yesterday. Fantastic record.
