  1. Big teenage band for me. Especially because they are very good music to listen to whilst walking around a city on a rainy night. Recommend.
  2. There is an article in The Atlantic about it today. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2024/06/america-cricket-next-frontier/678656/ Very paywalled. Interesting that it only really contemplates T20 catching on.
  3. Lee Konitz and Hal Galper - Windows
  4. John Jacob Niles – The Ballads Of John Jacob Niles
  5. Pat Matshikiza - Kippie Moketsi Featuring Basil "Mannenberg" Coetzee – Tshona A nice hit of RSA jazz, although I am not 100% sure that this is one that I definitely need to own this one.
  6. Reverend Charlie Jackson - God's Got It!
  7. Oh no! RIP
  8. I have never been into cricket although always loved the idea of one day having sufficient time to spend following test matches on the radio. The pigeons, etc. I have attended a couple of T20 games recently. Cricket-following colleagues are extremely disparaging about the concept, and I fully understand why, but the truth is those games were all exciting and were all full of kids. Is your son in Texas? Is the game making inroads there, somehow?
  9. That's a shame. I am post-CDs these days and would happily own this on vinyl.
  10. Do you know whether this was the first time they were released? It seems strange that they'd have been released by Arhoolie for the first time in the 1990s on CD. But I can't find any original release on Discogs. The United Sacred Harp Convention – The Alan Lomax Recordings, 1959 A surprise hit with the kids.
  11. Austin Pitre And His Evangeline Playboys – Opelousas Waltz Burner. One of the best records on Arhoolie.
  12. Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band – 1954
  13. Various – Playing For The Man At The Door (Field Recordings From The Collection Of Mack McCormick 1958–1971) Playing this again for the first time since its release. Some fabulous stuff on here.
  14. This one: Various – Molam: Thai Country Groove From Isan There was a second, but I don't recall it being so strong.
  15. Various – How Can I Keep From Singing (Early American Religious Music And Song Vol. 1)
  16. Thanks! Not sure why my comment came out like that but the stuff about discontinuation was a reference to the Strata East Pure Pleasure re-releases. Lovely to see all the Newports together though.
  17. My knowledge of the genre is very limited. Basically starting and ending with that Sublime Frequencies comp a few years back.
  18. Ramsay Midwood – Shoot Out At The Ok Chinese Restaurant
