  1. Today the Redblacks released Delbert Alvarado, and signed Chris Milo. http://www.tsn.ca/hash-marks-redblacks-sign-k-milo-1.339461
  2. That's a shame. I was psyched to get that!
  3. I once found for the youngsters of a buddy of mine a couple of boxes of Lorna Doone-type cookies that looked like pro wrestlers. One of the cookies was Rowdy Roddy Piper. Needless to say, the kids thought that I was a great guy!
  4. Michael, that's an interesting idea. I remember seeing Ravi Shankar in Monterey Pop. BillF, I think your Duke at Newport suggestion is great! I bought it a couple of years ago for maybe 99 cents! The Amazon rep suggested that maybe the Charles Tyler is now longer available. Well it so happens that we have the label's owner right here. Chuck, what say you? Is Saga of the Outlaws no longer available at Amazon as an mp3?
  5. I've very much enjoyed the past three releases of Russ Nolan. I'm not aware of many people knowing of him.
  6. My shipping notice also says to expect arrival Aug. 6. As you said, we'll see. Arrived today. Took a week. Pretty fast IMO. Mine arrived yesterday. I was wondering if someone in the food chain didn't like me!
  7. Dana, as I have mentioned, the Riders have been keeping it close. Their defense has given up the most points after five weeks, but Kevin Glenn has been great filling in for Darian Durant. Now that Glenn is out, this week they will start their third string QB, Brett Smith, with Tino Sunseri backing him up. http://3downnation.com/2015/07/29/the-brett-smith-era-begins-in-riderville/ http://www.tsn.ca/esks-defence-wary-of-riders-qb-smith-1.338556 Good luck with that! The Eskimos have the best defensive line in the league, and they are playing them in 21 hours.
  8. I don't recall a CFL weekend which lasted as long as this week's. The first game on Thursday, and the last game on Monday. ***** Winnipeg 23....BC 13 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/game/bc-lions-winnipeg-blue-bombers-20150730/Stats http://cfl.ca/article/willy-throws-pair-of-touchdowns-as-bombers-top-lions Heavy rain in Winnipeg. Despite his knee injury on Sunday, Drew Willy had a good game. If it weren't for such a good game by Andrew Harris, BC might have been blown out.

  11. Jim, a Kindle book chapter is free. I have tried to order the Charles Tyler (Thanks TD!) but there is a problem on Amazon's end. Thanks for all of your suggestions so far!
  12. Hope you had a great day yesterday, Jonathan!
  13. Happy Birthday Gary!
  14. Week 5 review http://www.cfl.ca/article/cfl-replay-looking-back-at-week-5 ***** cfl.ca 7/28 power rankings http://www.cfl.ca/article/boatmen-sail-to-the-top-of-nissan-titan-power-rankings I think that it's extraordinary that the Argos are ranked #1 because all of their games have been on the road without their starting quarterback. ***** Josh Smith 7/28 power rankings http://3downnation.com/2015/07/28/3downs-week-5-wrap-up/#comments ***** Malcolm Kelly 7/28 power rankings http://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/cfl-power-rankings-week-5-1.3171411 ***** Scott Cullen TSN 7/28 power rankings http://www.tsn.ca/argos-climb-to-top-of-cfl-power-rankings-1.337270 ***** Week 5 Plays of the Week http://www.cfl.ca/video/index/id/113489 ***** Jamie Nye Week 6 picks http://www.cfl.ca/article/weekly-predictor-starting-qbs-affecting-confidence ***** Chris Schultz Week 6 picks http://www.tsn.ca/week-6-cfl-picks-can-cato-beat-stamps-again-1.337413 ***** The Sport Network's web address is getting an "Invalid URL" response. I sure hope that Gregg Xenakes hasn't lost his job. ***** Here's something I didn't know. John Hodge says that Canadian teams wore only one uniform until the games were televised in the '50s. At that time, the league required the road team to wear white so that the viewer at home could tell the difference between the teams on his black and white TV. http://3downnation.com/2015/07/29/time-for-cfl-to-eliminate-away-uniforms/#comments I can relate. One year, maybe 1979, I attended a Pittsburgh Pirates game against the visiting San Diego Padres. The Pirates wore black and gold, and the Padres wore brown and gold, and I found it difficult to differentiate the teams. And I was there!
  15. This week's games start tomorrow night, so let's see how many quick posts it will take me to catch up. Two great games last Friday... Ottawa 29....Calgary 26 http://www.cfl.ca/statistics/statsGame/id/12881 http://cfl.ca/article/redblacks-stun-stampeders-in-ot-victory The Redblacks' kicker Alvarado missed a convert and a field goal late in the fourth, either of which would have won it. But he redeemed himself with a field goal in overtime. Jon Cornish broke his thumb, and has been placed on the six-game injured list. http://www.tsn.ca/stamps-place-cornish-evans-on-six-game-il-1.337362 http://3downnation.com/2015/07/25/stampeders-loss-to-redblacks-costs-them-cornish-for-a-few-weeks/#comments **** Toronto 30....BC 27 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/game/toronto-argonauts-bc-lions-20150724/Stats http://cfl.ca/article/harris-argos-overcome-21-point-deficit-in-win-over-lions http://3downnation.com/2015/07/25/lions-fall-to-argos-as-discipline-decisions-and-execution-falter/#comments The Lions swept the floor with the Argos in the first quarter, and took a 21-0 lead 30 seconds into the second. After that, they stopped doing anything right, and the Argos came back to win it. ***** Edmonton 32....Winnipeg 3 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/game/winnipeg-blue-bombers-edmonton-eskimos-20150725/Stats http://www.cfl.ca/article/franklin-takes-over-to-lead-eskimos-over-bombers It was raining with a slick field in Edmonton, and the Eskimos led 4-3 at the half. Chris Jones put in third string quarterback John Franklin in the third quarter, and he led the team to four touchdowns! ***** Hamilton 31....Sask 21 http://www.cfl.ca/statistics/statsGame/id/12887 http://www.cfl.ca/article/gable-gallops-in-return-as-ticats-outrun-riders http://3downnation.com/2015/07/28/ticats-showed-the-potential-to-be-great-in-win-over-riders/#comments CJ Gable played his first game of the year, and ran for 160 yards. Kevin Glenn hurt his shoulder in the second half, and has been placed on the six-game injured list. http://www.cfl.ca/article/glenn-out-brett-smith-to-start-for-riders http://www.tsn.ca/glenn-has-pectoral-tear-smith-up-for-riders-1.337970
  16. LOL! JLH, that's what I got two years ago, the last time this happened!
  17. Scott, I haven't forgotten about you! I've just been busy. I'm looking forward to studying your link, and if I don't find what I like, I'll look for a rebuttal.
  18. I have a $1.00 Amazon mp3 credit which will expire July 31, the day after tomorrow. I have rarely purchased an mp3. It's not my style. I'm not interested in a $1.00 discount on an mp3 album. But since I'm in a "use it or lose it" situation, what do you recommend I spend the dollar on? Thanks!
  19. The Criterion 2-DVD set is $25.20. http://www.amazon.com/Elevator-Gallows-Criterion-Collection-Jeanne/dp/B000E5LEVA/
  20. I was not aware that any members of the audience considered Miles's performance to be a comeback. I thought that the concept was entirely an invention of George Avakian, for the purpose of promoting Miles's new relationship with Columbia.
  21. Happy Birthday 2015 md655321!
  22. It is now at the half, and Calgary leads Ottawa 19-17. I mention this because both teams after every touchdown have gone for the two points.
  23. Shirley Bassey OAS - now down to $10.91 + $3.99 http://www.amazon.com/Original-Album-BASSEY-SHIRLEY/dp/B00NIUECCQ/ref=sr_1_5?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1437784312&sr=1-5 This is the one I wish I got because it is the one without The Bridge.
