In this is Tuesday, it must be Stonehenge

Beautiful photos! Hope you had a great time! -
I don't see how the digital era has changed the need for promotion. Even if an artist puts his entire album up on Spotify for me to listen for free, what will motivate me to go find it? How will I know about it? Way back when I had a positive attitude toward certain labels. Is there a new concept which will maintain that?

The game in Hamilton is currently delayed in the second quarter due to lightning, so let's catch up. ***** Edmonton 30....Sask 5 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/game/saskatchewan-roughriders-edmonton-eskimos-20150731/Stats http://cfl.ca/article/defence-delivers-esks-top-riders-for-fourth-straight http://3downnation.com/2015/08/01/being-stubborn-is-head-coachs-biggest-flaw/ The Riders have lost their first six games for the first time since 1979 (their first year without Ron Lancaster at QB). Brett Smith didn't look too bad starting his first pro game. He threw some picks in the second half which made the final score look bad. Matt Nichols continues to look good. (I didn't realize last week that when Franklin came in to lead the Eskimos to four second half touchdowns, the rain had stopped.) ***** Calgary 25....Montreal 22 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/game/montreal-alouettes-calgary-stampeders-20150801/Stats http://www.cfl.ca/article/mitchell-stampeders-ride-to-victory-over-als http://3downnation.com/2015/08/02/stamps-head-into-a-bye-on-a-high-after-comeback-win-over-the-alouettes/ With a strong wind at their back, the Als led 17-0 after one. But when they had the wind at their back, the Stamps scored 17 of their own; and the Als led 20-17 at the half. For some reason the entire second half was a defensive struggle, and Marquay McDaniel's TD reception in the third won it for the Stamps. ***** Edmonton today signed Shomari Williams. http://www.tsn.ca/hash-marks-eskimos-sign-veteran-dl-williams-to-practice-roster-1.339461

In memoriam of Cilla this evening, I pulled out my DVD of Ferry Cross the Mersey. I very much wanted to see it fifty years ago, but it never came to town. Praise the Lord for DVDs! I very much enjoyed it, including Cilla's one song, which was the only song not included on the LP.

25 or so years ago, I rented a VHS of the English TV show Ready Steady Go. Featured were clips of Cilla Black and Lulu. Both lip-synced. Cilla could not have been more stiff. But then came the live interview, and she was very perky and cheery. Lulu, on the other hand, was terrific performing, but when it came time for the interview, she did not have much of a personality. Fast forward to about 2000, and I learn from seeing a cover of OK Magazine that Cilla had been for many years a television hostess. My first thought was that that was quite appropriate because she had handled her interview so well in 1964. RIP.

You may indeed! I'm sorry I didn't think of it first! Also, I never heard it, but I bet that the Charles Brown box deserves wider recognition.

It's been a very long time since the Mulligan/Baker Quartet set has been in print on CD (legit).

Quick! What is the longest single jazz track that's good?

That's a shame. I was psyched to get that! -
I once found for the youngsters of a buddy of mine a couple of boxes of Lorna Doone-type cookies that looked like pro wrestlers. One of the cookies was Rowdy Roddy Piper. Needless to say, the kids thought that I was a great guy!

Michael, that's an interesting idea. I remember seeing Ravi Shankar in Monterey Pop. BillF, I think your Duke at Newport suggestion is great! I bought it a couple of years ago for maybe 99 cents! The Amazon rep suggested that maybe the Charles Tyler is now longer available. Well it so happens that we have the label's owner right here. Chuck, what say you? Is Saga of the Outlaws no longer available at Amazon as an mp3? -
I've very much enjoyed the past three releases of Russ Nolan. I'm not aware of many people knowing of him.

My shipping notice also says to expect arrival Aug. 6. As you said, we'll see. Arrived today. Took a week. Pretty fast IMO. Mine arrived yesterday. I was wondering if someone in the food chain didn't like me!

Dana, as I have mentioned, the Riders have been keeping it close. Their defense has given up the most points after five weeks, but Kevin Glenn has been great filling in for Darian Durant. Now that Glenn is out, this week they will start their third string QB, Brett Smith, with Tino Sunseri backing him up. http://3downnation.com/2015/07/29/the-brett-smith-era-begins-in-riderville/ http://www.tsn.ca/esks-defence-wary-of-riders-qb-smith-1.338556 Good luck with that! The Eskimos have the best defensive line in the league, and they are playing them in 21 hours.

I don't recall a CFL weekend which lasted as long as this week's. The first game on Thursday, and the last game on Monday. ***** Winnipeg 23....BC 13 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/game/bc-lions-winnipeg-blue-bombers-20150730/Stats http://cfl.ca/article/willy-throws-pair-of-touchdowns-as-bombers-top-lions Heavy rain in Winnipeg. Despite his knee injury on Sunday, Drew Willy had a good game. If it weren't for such a good game by Andrew Harris, BC might have been blown out.
