Edmonton Eskimos 26....Toronto Argonauts 17 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4524368 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=403978 The Eskimos led the entire game, but the Argos never let them get too far ahead. Jyles was hurt in the first quarter, and Kerry Joseph came off the bench to lead the Esks. An interesting play: The Eskimos had to use their second half timeout when their defense left the field on third down to bring in the punt receiving team, and Ricky Ray tried to run a play when the Esks had one man between the hash marks! ***** Vince Young has been cut by Buffalo, so the Als promptly added him to their neg list. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=403966

I saw Rancho Deluxe in the 70s and loved it. I would like to see it again to see if I still find it funny.

8th of July is the only one I know. It was my first free jazz album. I think I have it in a box somewhere. Flying Dutchman label, right?

Back around '66 and '67, Willie Bobo was one of the few jazz artists whose records I always saw at the record stores with poor jazz selections. What those stores had was mostly Verve, Impulse! and Columbia, and Willie Bobo was always there.

The Bombers fired Paul LaPolice today, and replaced him with defensive coordinator Tim Burke. http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4523880 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=403819 ***** Minnesota has cut Solomon Elimimian. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=403827 ***** Miami has cut Jerome Messam. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=403813 ***** Calgary Stampeders 17....Saskatchewan Roughriders 10 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4523947 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=403835 The Stamps jumped out to a 14-0 lead with two drives on the ground, and made it look easy. The game then settled into a defensive struggle. The score was 17-3 with 4 minutes left in the game, when the Riders scored a touchdown to close the gap.

British Columbia Lions 20....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 17 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4523797 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=403793 Another fantastic game. Paul McCallum kicked a 41-yard field goal on the last play of the game to win it. Another see-saw battle. The Lions led 10-0 at the half, with all of their points in the second quarter. The Lions tried a new offense in the first quarter, and it didn't work. In the first half, the Bombers got only 4 first downs. But the Bombers scored the next 14 points, and led by four with less than five minutes to go in the game. BC scored a touchdown, and the Bombers tied it with 27 seconds left in the game.

Montreal Alouettes 31....Hamilton Tiger-Cats 29 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4523545 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=403721 Fantastic game. See-saw battle with two good offenses and two good defenses. Sean Whyte kicked a 37-yard field goal on the last play of the game to win it. Today was Anthony Calvillo's fortieth birthday. With 436 TD passes, Calvillo moved ahead of Warren Moon to second place on the North American pro football list. Brett Favre is first with 508. Chris Williams tied Gizmo Williams' season record with five kicks returned for TD's. Remember that Chris W. had another that he goofed off on and was tackled at the one.
