Thanks sonnymax! 1) When does it expire? 2) I would like to look at jazz album mp3's in ascending price order. Is there a way I can do that?

Huffington Post bought by AOL
GA Russell replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
This is the first time I've heard of AOL since they split from Time Warner. I guess AOL is going the MSNBC route. -
Best wishes, Bill. I'll add you to my prayer list tonight.

ejp, that pretty much sums up my attitude. I've tuned in now with seven minutes to go in the third quarter, and I expect to listen to the end. But the big American leagues (and perhaps around the world as well) are too corporate for me, and it doesn't seem like fun like it did when I was a kid. In fairness, I think the game itself was quite good, notwithstanding the many off-putting circumstances.

Congrats to the NFL fans for another good Super Bowl game. After decades of crummy games, the past ten years has seen a number of good ones. My favorite was the Steelers-Cardinals match. -
$20 Amazon coupon/credit for $10

Dave, the show was never more than a cult favorite in the US. But I learned decades later that it was so popular in the UK that McGoohan was the highest-paid television actor in the UK at the time. -

$20 Amazon coupon/credit for $10
GA Russell replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I spent my credit today on a new DVD box set of all of the episodes (both half-hour and hour) of Secret Agent aka Danger Man with Patrick McGoohan. It's my favorite television show. I haven't seen them in 25 years, but I expect that I will enjoy them again. The half-hour episodes I've never seen before. Two years ago, the box of the hour episodes was about $100 and the box of the half-hour episodes was about $50. Last year at this time they were both out of print, and I saw an Amazon Marketplace vendor list the box of hour episodes for $600. So this new box, combining both of the old boxes, was issued in time for Christmas, and Amazon currently has it for $49.95 with free shipping. http://www.amazon.co...97038195&sr=1-1 So deducting my free $10 LivingSocial deal, that means I get 18 discs (3,420 minutes) for $39.95. -
Jim, if the Super Bowl visitors were to have problems with the ice, etc., Dallas would be remembered in newspapers for decades as the city that clusterfucked the Super Bowl. Surely that bad reputation would hurt the economy worse than the business lost due to lack of productivity for a week, don't you think?

Kenny G Gets a Super Bowl Spot?
GA Russell replied to mellowT's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I was surprised to see a couple of years ago a list of top selling album acts, and over the course of his career, Kenny G has sold 2/3 the number of albums as The Rolling Stones. -

Are there any box bargains currently available?
GA Russell replied to GA Russell's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Mike, they should have sent you an email confirming that your order was shipped. That email should have contained a tracking link. Due to my Dec. experience with Newbury's, I recommend that you daily check on that tracking link, and don't wait till the 14th if something looks wrong. -

$20 Barnes & Noble gift card for $10

So far I haven't found anything for $20 that I want to spend $10 on. -
Bob Hurst has two new albums out, the first of which is called Unrehurst vol.2. This was a live recording of a 2007 gig at Smoke in New York with Robert Glasper on piano and Chris "Daddy" Dave on drums. There are five songs - two originals by Hurst, one by Glasper, I Love You and Monk's Dream. Due to a snowstorm, the group was unable to rehearse prior to the gig, although Hurst and Glasper had played and recorded with each other before. I like it. For the most part, your opinion of the album will depend upon your opinion of Glasper. The two standards are pretty much mainstream, and the three originals less so. This is one of the better new albums I've heard in the last couple of years, but you have to like piano trios.

$20 Barnes & Noble gift card for $10
GA Russell replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
A lot of what I have seen at B&N seems to be almost $10 more expensive than the Amazon Marketplace. -
Andy Fantuz has signed with Chicago. I give him little chance because I think the NFL values speed more than the ability to catch the ball. I guess production of Fantuz Flakes will be suspended until he returns. Steve Buratto will be the Riders' O-line coach this year. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/roughriders-andy-fantuz-signs-with-chicago-bears/article1894841/ ***** Ticats DL Garrett McIntyre will sign with the New York Jets, and try out for outside LB. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=352408

I'd rather not. Maybe the trainwreck session would finally be released as something like "Tyrone Washington Plays For Star-Crossed Lovers" Felser's post reminds me that it's that time of year again to pull out the Plays for Lovers CDs!

Barnes & Noble sells music at their website bn.com, so I thought you would be interested to see this. This is apparently groupon's response to LivingSocial's similar deal with Amazon from a couple of weeks ago. $10 will get you a $20 gift card at Barnes & Noble's (valid in-store and online). Offer expires April 10, 2011. http://www.groupon.c...&utm_source=rvs PS - Apparently the offer to buy it expires February 7 at 11:59 pm. The gift card expires April 10.

Medjuck,I don't remember where I saw the article, but it was within the last week or so - very recent. I gather that most of the debt was owed to Citigroup, so Citi took over the company and converted the debt into equity, thus cleaning up the balance sheet. As I understand it, no one said that EMI's sales were ridiculously low, only that they weren't enough to make the payments on the large sum of money borrowed by Guy Hands to take the company private.

My experience with Movie Mars in Dec. was quite good. I got a box set from them promptly and without problems. -
