  1. I think they are legit. The master tapes are probably AWOL so they had to do a needle drop. I know that was the case w/ their reissue of Sun Ra's Nuclear War LP.
  2. So who's the WS MVP for the Yanks?? I thinking Damon or maybe Mo.
  3. "Touch Me I'm Sick" ???? I think I have that around here somewhere. I purged a lot of that stuff during my mistaken change over from Vinyl to CD back in the late 80's early 90's. Alas.
  4. I turned it off after Posada smacked that lead off double in the 9th. I couldn't watch this thing unravel two night in a row. This is like death by a thousand cuts. If the Phillies are to lose this series(and I'm still thinking they will in 6) I almost wish they had lost tonight just to get it over with. The more this series stretches out the more painful it will be when they finally lose. Kind of like removing a band aid. Do you do rip it off fast and get it over with or do you peel it off ever so gently trying not to snag any hairs or scab? No matter which method you choose either way is going to involve some pain. I'll be relieved when this series is over so I can start getting to bed at a decent hour. The stress from these late nights is killing me.
  5. Looks like Chollie is trying to be the first manager to blow a 6 run lead going in 8th inning during a WS game. Why did he bring Lee back out? Wow I can't believe this. Hate to agree w/ McCarver but yeah why didn't he replace Ibanez w/ Francisco? Victorino must be injured from all of those strike outs.
  6. Utley's record immediately followed up by Ryan Howard setting the all time WS strike out record. EDIT: that should read something like, "As Utley ties Reggie Jackson's record for most home runs, Ryan Howard ties Willie Wilson for the record for most strikeouts in a World Series.
  7. Chase Utley just tied Reggie Jackson'e WS HR record.
  8. I think NY wins it all Monday night. They are just flat out playing better baseball right now than the Phillies.
  9. Yeah, once Damon got to third on that bone head throw by Ruiz that pretty much ended any chance of Lidge tossing any sliders. I'm just glad we won it all last year. I would be freaking out right now if we hadn't. Except now I'm starting to wonder if were going to become the new Atlanta Braves - dominant for season after season w/ only one title to show for it. I mean I think the Phils will be right back in the postseason for the next 3 or 4 years, barring any injuries a la the Mets. They have a relatively young team and a great farm system so there's no reason why they can't keep the window open for a few more years. But will it be enough to beat the Yankees??
  10. I mean, I've known, known since about early May that if the Phillies made it to the WS again it would end w/Lidge throwing it away in the 9th. So am I upset? Yeah, but I've had 6 months to prepare for this eventuality so I'm not devastated. Actually Lidge pitched reallly well the entire inning except that fastball to ARod. Damon had a great at bat. And Posada getting that hit w/ 2 strikes another clutch piece of hitting. Really it was Ruiz' throw down to second fucked up the whole inning. He never should have attempted that throw. That was the beginning of the end right there.
  11. Bradley. Thomas. Lidge. One. Strike. Away. Ballgame.
  12. Who can figure out how Geradi manages a game? Did my eyes decieve me, but it looked like Felix could have got that grounder? Yes, he should have. And Chase should have tried to get the runner at first instead of 2nd. Phillies are imploding once again. I mean it's walks and BS infield hits and bad fielding that are killing them. The Yankees haven't hit anything hard since Damon's hit in the first.
  13. So it appears that every time the Phils score a run they are determined to give it back. WTF??
  14. Howard never touched home after banging into Posada.
  15. Oh and why is Feliz hitting in front of Ruiz? Feliz .083, Ruiz .300 w/ a homer. EDIT: and of course, right on cue, Feliz gets Howard home.
  16. Ryan Howard get a hit and then steals a base??
  17. Man, this ump's strike zone is all over the place.
  18. Oh and the Phils need to get a new hitting coach. They should be making CC throw as many pitches as possible tonight. Instead they just hack away at the first thing that comes near the strike zone. Yeah, their lineup put up lots of runs but their situational hitting stinks - no patience whatsoever.
  19. This offseason the Phils need to replace Feliz at third. Great glove, but his bat is killing them. He just looks awful up there.
  20. Oh I totally understand your concern. I admit it does seem a little fishy that they hit the best hitter on the Yanks 3x in 2 games. EDIT: Oh forgot to say that the funniest term I ever heard by a baseball broadcaster was by Chuck Thompson the guy who did the Orioles' games back in the 70's. He used to call errors "boners". "Ground ball to Belanger oh he did he make a big boner on that play..."
  21. What's the WS record for highest number of strikeouts by a batter?? Howard has to be closing in on it.
  22. Beaned? You mean hit by a pitch? "Beaned" means taking one to the head. If ARod were "beaned" 3 times this series he would be dead.
  23. Iggles are smacking the Giants around today. 30-7 at the half.
  24. I've seen the replay of ARod's HR about 10x now and I think it's a homer. It would have gone out by about an inch if the camera wasn't there. If it had been at Yankee Stadium it's 10 rows deep. Still they shouldn't have any camera that near the field of play just because of the potential for controversy. As if the MLB needed more. Come to think of it if Cole Hamels hadn't had a hissy fit when the 3rd strike to Teixeira was called a ball they probably wouldn't even be taking about that HR call. Dude is a head case. Every time a call doesn't go his way he flips out and loses his shit. Grow some onions and deal w/it. I'm thinking that I may revise my prediction to 5 games the way the Phillies are hitting. Not too mention Chollie is getting out managed by Giraldi and his 3 ring binder right now. Blanton as Game 4 starter?? The guy gave up 30 dingers this season,(4th in the majors) and his career ERA is north of 8.00 vs. the Yankees, the team that led the majors w/ 244 taters this year. Bombs away!
  25. Hamels should have been left off the WS roster. Worthless. My prediction - the Yanks slam Blanton tomorrow and Lee sends it back to NYC for Game 6. Yanks in 6.
