  1. The Prestige jam sessions get a lot of playing time here.
  2. Bought it when it came out and 46 years later I'm still listening to it. Me too, as pricey import. Sorry to say it didn't quite captivate like it did 45 years ago. Jubalee and the ESP album still hit the spot though.
  3. My view too.
  4. A footnote on the London Tuba Players. On a visit to London in the 70s Howard Johnson assembled most if not all of London's tuba players (including the very top classical guys) to play a gig at the 100 Club. Eight tubas plus rhythm, what a noise.
  5. Earlier Kenny Dorham; Jazz Contemporary. Bainbridge Now Original Impulse stereo
  6. Received Unity this morning from cd Japan. Unfortunately no opportunity to spin it today.

Welcome, Simon! Our well known tenor player and Tubby Hayes expert??
  8. Once more for Fred Hopkins.
  9. So sorry to hear about the loss of this respected member.

  11. Happy Birthday belatedly Ronald. Hope you had a great day.
  12. Recently Don Pullen's Ode To Life from Random Thoughts (Blue Note) has been on my cd player a lot.
  13. Yes, there's nothing quite like it.
  14. Very sad news. A remarkable musician. Saw him a few times early and late in his playing career. Somehow missed him in his middle years.
  15. Same here, not played in years. I'll have to dig it out.
  16. Sad news indeed. The Jazz Crusaders were a great little unit.
  17. Thanks mjzee. The discs do copy using NERO and play in the Arcam. At least the couple I've tried do. I don't real;y feel like having to copy ten or so cds though. Probably it will have to be done. Unfortunately copy protection coincided with a wealth of BN and PJ issues. The moral here is if you are buying a new cd player and you have some of these discs, check that they play first.
  18. Happy Birthday Dan
  19. Found another that will not play. It's most likely to be a problem specific to my cd player but so disappointing that after ten years this disaster has raised it's ugly head again.
  20. Oh dear, just tried to play my copy protected Horace Silver and the Jazz Messengers cd. My reasonably new Arcam mini says "no music files". Fortunately it plays in my computer and appears to have copied satisfactorily. This begs the question how many others are not going to play. Being in the UK I have quite a few Blue Note/EMI cds with copy protection. Not a happy situation. Anyone else still experiencing problems with copy protection.
  21. Will this do in the meantime. Is this going to be a good buy?
  22. Happy Birthday Bob. Have a great day.
