Shocked to hear this on BBC Radio news a few minutes ago. A massive loss. Fortunately I did get to see him with Quartet West, Ornette and the Liberation Music Orchestra. All great music.

Section C by Cecil Taylor. The version included on a Marty Krystal/Buell Neidlinger lp. Not only exciting piano but also I really like Shepp's playing.
This was shown on UK tv a few months ago. Interesting plot which kept me watching. Can't say I liked any of the characters paticularly, Nice Belgium location filming though.
Some while ago Jazz Services in the UK commissioned a report on growing club audiences and attracting younger people. Their main conclusion was "don't mention Jazz".
