  1. from wicked-pee-dia: Frick and Frack were two Swiss skaters who came to the U.S. and joined the original Ice Follies show as comedy ice skaters. "Frick" was Werner Groebli, born April 21, 1915, in Basel, Switzerland. "Frack" was Hansreudi (Hans) R. Mauch, May 4, 1919, in Basel, Switzerland. Frick and Frack were known for skating in Alpine Lederhosen and performing eccentric tricks on ice, including the "cantilever spread-eagle," created by Groebli, and Mauch's "rubber legs" twisting and bending his legs while skating in a spread eagle position. sorry, but i gotta wonder about a guy who wants to name cats after a couple of male skaters. Aw geez, don't get technical. I didn't know their history. To me Frick & Frack just means like inseparable friends, you see one--you see the other too. e.g. Mutt & Jeff, the Bobbsie twins, etc. But, hey.....they're your cats. -_-
  2. Blast, I missed it. Arrrggh, mates, a keel-haul offense, I'm sure.

  4. I was going to suggest naming them Frick & Frack or Slick & Retread, but you were so hell-bent on jazz names....
  5. I got my copy yesterday and am listening to BLUE TRAIN as I 'speak.' I get the impression that Lee Morgan was trying to give Trane a lesson on "taste" on the title cut. tsk

  7. His only known income is $400,000 a year football pension. It won't get you much of a Dream Team but its a lot more than most criminal defendants have for their representation. Considering that the case is a lot more straightforward than when he murdered two people, I'd expect him to have more than adequate representation. Its also possible that a "celebrity" lawyer will take the job to get his face on TV and get other gigs. His book hit # 1. I heard the audio today. OJ was clearly in charge and playing the role of a gangster tough guy. Unless this gets fucked by another jury full of lunatics, he is going to serve some time. He's not supposed to get anything from the book, I heard, Goldman is.
  8. Fantastic pics, ALOC. Thanks for sharing.
  9. How did you guys meet your significant other?, Looking for answers I propose changing the title of this thread to "What to read when faced with insomnia." I'm happy for all you chumps.

  11. Geez, I'm pretty common: 149,903 named Maurice, 18,170 named Grubb, only nine named Maurice Grubb though.
  12. Mo, I haven't heard that one yet. I have the Miles/Coltrane box, but haven't gotten to that disc yet. Do you like it? Absolutely!! The whole cut, the whole album(BASIC MILES, on vinyl), Trane really shines on Green Dolphin St.; it still blows me away after all these years. This recording is what got me into Trane. The only "reason" for asking was I was wondering if you didn't think Blue Train was particularly outstanding, if you thought Green Dolphin St. was. No biggie, just curiosity.
  13. Just curious, if you've heard it, how do you feel about Trane's solo on Green Dolphin Street in Mile's group with Cannonball?

  15. Thinking along the lines of its being like the original release, and it seemed to please a lot of people before the more sophisticated editing came along, I ordered the (Enhanced) Original. That's most likely the version that I heard many years ago and I liked it then, also.
  16. The last I heard OJ's being held in the slammer.

  18. Thank you very much for your responses, for clearing up the boondoggle.
  19. Ah so. I just noticed that all three of these renditions contain seven tracks. That must be why the enhanced in front of Original. So, back at square one. The Original is significantly less costly. Also, I've noticed that some analog recordings transfered to disk develop extraneous noises, denigrate over time. I'm wondering if maybe the ENHANCED and/or the HYBRID SACD safeguard against this.
