  1. the suckers just drilled another big hole in that boat today. They're (perhaps) going to need some paddles and lifeboats... If Castle and the suits "win" I wonder how much of a cut the arttists will get? Can you say "zero," "zed" or "nada'? Agreed there. But, I don't understand the hostility towards the RIAA in this case. It seems like your hostility should be directed towards the jury, if anyone/thing.
  2. Yowl! Lookie here, Yaw[Y'all].
  3. Golden oldie, "Ain't it the truth." A man owned a small ranch in Texas. The Texas Wage & Hour Dept. claimed he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to interview him "I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them," demanded the agent. Well," replied the rancher, "There's my ranch hand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $200 a week plus free room and board. The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $150 per week plus free room and board. Then there's the half-wit who works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night." "That's the guy I want to talk to, the half-wit," says the agent. "That would be me," replied the rancher
  4. That's one way of putting it.
  5. That sounds tasty. How does that hotdog fair being cooked for so long? Seems like it'd be hard as a brick.
  6. re: trashy productions of trendy nihilists I always called this the Rock("music") influence, never thought it was permeating opera, especially in Europe(Yurp). People won't listen to it as is, where it stands, sooo....wees gotta bring it to da paple. Some shocking, albeit "logical," stuff.
  7. Reminds me of a San Francisco experience many years a go. The flavor's different, but, if you just want something hot, try some chinese mustard. I tried a "medium" hot once that scared the shit out of me. I can't imagine how hot the really hot stuff is.
  8. Huh, I did not realize that.

  10. Epitaph: Here lies Jesse Martin, 54; no more spanking the monkey.
  11. George Bush has a heart attack and dies. He goes to hell where the Devil Is waiting for him. "I don't know what to do here," says the Devil. "You're on my list but I Have no room for you, but you definitely have to stay here, so I'll tell You what I'm going to do. I've got 3 people here who weren't quite as Bad as you. I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their place. I'll even let YOU decide who leaves." George thought that sounded pretty good, so he agreed. The devil opened the first room. In it was Ted Kennedy and a large pool Of water. He kept resurfacing over and over and over, gasping for air. Such was his fate in hell. "No!" George said. "I don't think so. I'm not a good swimmer and don't Think I could do that all day long." The devil led him to the next room. In it was Tony Blair with a Sledgehammer and a room full of rocks. All he did was swing that hammer, Time after time after time, and more rocks appeared. "No! I've got this problem with my shoulder. I would be in constant Agony if all I could do was break rocks all day!" thought George. The devil opened a third door. In it, George saw Bill Clinton lying Naked on the floor with his arms staked over his head and his legs Staked in spread eagle pose. Bent over him was Monica Lewinsky, doing What she does best. George Bush looked at this in disbelief for a while and finally Said,"Yeah, I can handle this." The devil smiled and said, "Monica, you're free to go."
  12. I can respect that, but I like meat. I kinda favor the Native Americans' perspective when it comes to killing animals for food; e.g. respectful toward the animal as a living creature, "sacrificing" itself for my nourishment.
  13. I just hope you lucky winners will share your new found wealths.
  14. Orson Bean Orson Wells(sp) Jimmy Olson
  15. I agree. As a sidenote, I wish something also would be done to treat "factory" animals such as pigs and beef more humane. It's a shame.
  16. Yes, when the song first broke, many assumed she was a black singer. That's because they probably didn't have any relatives, (poor) farming people, that lived in the lifestyle of the ones in the song, e.g. like mine ; not to say black folks didn't live the same way. Plus, Gentry sounded white to my ears. Wow, those lyrics sound like a conversation like my grandparents might have had sitting around the kitchen table. Thanks for posting them, RDK.

  18. I didn't get Cricket out of it, but the absurdity was beautiful.
  19. There was never any doubt in my mind that she was white, beings I'm white an' all.

  21. He's probably got a corporate sponsor. He's got a good enough product that warranted corporate investment to promote him.
  22. So, what did they throw off the Whatchamacallit Bridge? An aborted fetus, mother-in-law, what? I heard the song when it first came out, never paid much attention to lyrics. It's fun to blow to though.
  23. As far as the business end of music performance goes I'm still pretty bitter 'bout R&R. You know, it's hard enough to get a fair shake as it is without "excessive" pimping/pandering. R&R Hall of Frame
  24. Get what out more? DON'T show'em to me.
  25. This is a life that apparently has yet to reach bottom... Love is bliss.
