  1. So where's the picture of the Jazz Bass? Ok, let me get it together... These shots don't look too good, so I'll try other later. Nothing special looking, it's candy apple red. year = 96. Don't worry about it. I've seen those basses.
  2. He agreed to it. I wouldn't feel bad. I give friends really good deals anyway. Heck, I've given more guitars away than most people will ever own. I'm sure he was happy that you got the bass. He was and I've given away a few myself. WTF... Okay, to be fair, if either of you decide to give another away, it's gotta go in "Pay It Forward". I'll be monitoring that VERRRY closely... I'm pretty happy with what I have now, so I'm probably going to be keeping them... but if I get a crazy thought someday, I'll remember you.

  5. That's a great resolution! How do you get such great deals? You must have some good friends.
  6. Not unless it referred to a penguin, of course! Nice! I read Bloom County everyday...
  7. Cool! It must be a kick to play that neck. Beautiful guitar!
  8. Sorry to hear that! I'll have a photo of my fretless later. Too much sunlight causes problems with my el-cheapo digital camera. That would be great. I do have three of my Telecasters here. I'll shoot a photo of them soon (just to get you in the Telecaster mood).
  9. I agree. Maybe that's one reason they're so addictive. I wish my G&L's were here, I'd post pictures of them.
  10. How'd ya do it before? ba da bump!
  11. I'd rather not have the debt myself... You did the right thing. Here's a picture of my ASAT Classic Signature:
  12. I like the ASATs with F-holes. Last fall, I traded for a ASAT Classic semi-hollow with f-hole. The guitar is really nice. It's a lively guitar. I haven't tried it at high volume, so I don't know how it will do with feedback. I tried a G&L Blues Boy a few years ago and could have gotten a wholesale price on it. Dumb move too. Doh! Buffalo Bros prices seem to be about 62% of list price. They usually have a decent selection.
  13. I like the ASATs with F-holes. Last fall, I traded for a ASAT Classic semi-hollow with f-hole. The guitar is really nice. It's a lively guitar. I haven't tried it at high volume, so I don't know how it will do with feedback. I believe the list price is only $100 different for the Legacy and the S-500. I'd say just make sure you're not buying one of the imported G&L Tribute models. Get pictures if you can, before you buy. My G&Ls: ASAT Classic Signature (1991) ASAT Classic Semi-hollowbody ASAT Z2 Comanche S-500
  14. You can still find some good deals on used G&L's, but it's getting harder. It seems like the secret is out... You should also check the guitarsbyleo message board. I know there's deals sometimes in their classifieds. guitarsbyleo.com marketplace
  15. It was the last one I worked in before getting into computers and into an office. *Looks up from computer around warehouse.* Hey, you're on a computer! That's WAY different. I was driving a forklift and smoking a lot of cigarettes. My lungs sure don't miss those days.
  16. I completely understand where you're coming from.
  17. I remember that song. I remember working in warehouses also. I sure don't miss that.
  18. Institutionalized Sometimes I try to do things and it just doesn't work out the way I wanted to. I get real frustrated and I try hard to do it and I take my time and it doesn't work out the way I wanted to. It's like I concentrate real hard and it doesn't work out Everything I do and everything I try never turns out It's like I need time to figure these things out But there's always someone there going Hey Mike: You know we've been noticing you've been having a lot of problems lately. You know, maybe you should get away and maybe you should talk about it, maybe you'll feel a lot better And I go: No it's okay, you know I'll figure it out, just leave me alone I'll figure it out. You know I'll just work by myself. And they go: Well you know if you want to talk about it I'll be here you know and you'll probably feel a lot better if you talk about it. And I go: No I don't want to I'm okay, I'll figure it out myself and they just keep bugging me and they just keep bugging me and it builds up inside and it builds up inside. So you're gonna be institutionalized You'll come out brainwashed with bloodshot eyes You won't have any say They'll brainwash you until you see their way. I'm not crazy - institutionalized You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized You're driving me crazy - institutionalized They stuck me in an institution Said it was the only solution to give me the needed professional help to protect me from the enemy, myself I was in my room and I was just like staring at the wall thinking about everything but then again I was thinking about nothing And then my mom came in and I didn't even know she was there she called my name and I didn't even hear it, and then she started screaming MIKE! MIKE! And I go: What, what's the matter And she goes: What's the matter with you? I go: There's nothing-wrong mom. And she goes: Don't tell me that, you're on drugs! And I go: No mom I'm not on drugs I'm okay, I was just thinking you know, why don't you get me a pepsi. And she goes: NO you're on drugs! I go: Mom I'm okay, I'm just thinking. She goes: No you're not thinking, you're on drugs! Normal people don't act that way! I go: Mom just give me a Pepsi please All I want is a Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me. Just a Pepsi. They give you a white shirt with long sleeves Tied around you're back, you're treated like thieves Drug you up because they're lazy It's too much work to help a crazy I'm not crazy - institutionalized You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized You're driving me crazy - institutionalized They stuck me in an institution Said it was the only solution To give me the needed professional help To protect me from the enemy, myself I was sitting in my room and my mom and my dad came in and they pulled up achair and they sat down, they go: Mike, we need to talk to you And I go: Okay what's the matter They go: Me and your mom have been noticing lately that you've been having a lot of problems, you've been going off for no reason and we're afraid you're gonna hurt somebody, we're afraid you're gonna hurt yourself. So we decided that it would be in your interest if we put you somewhere where you could get the help that you need. And I go: Wait, what do you mean, what are you talking about, we decided!? My best interest?! How can you know what's my best interest is? How can you say what my best interest is? What are you trying to say, I'm crazy? When I went to your schools, I went to your churches, I went to your institutional learning facilities?! So how can you say I'm crazy. They say they're gonna fix my brain Alleviate my suffering and my pain But by the time they fix my head Mentally I'll be dead I'm not crazy - institutionalized You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized You're driving me crazy - institutionalized They stuck me in an institution Said it was the only solution To give me the needed professional help To protect me from the enemy, myself What does it matter i'll probably get hit by a car anyway That's what I was listening to.
  19. Any love for Mingus' Changes albums? I think they're underrated. Also, Let My Children Hear Music, from '72 has been a favorite in the past. Heck, I like pretty much ol' Barron Mingus put out until around '77 or so. Mingus was a major gateway into jazz for me. :rsmile:
  20. This just in from the "I did not know that" department: That's a lot of "na's" and I never imagined the word "opus" being used in regards to Journey. The things you learn on jazz bulletin boards.
  21. This is amazing stuff, Chris! Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
  22. No offense but that's not saying a lot. If he was doing Louie, Louie, I'd be happy. I realize times are different and that while I look askance at rap, etc., my parents probably did the same with the Beatles. However, as to what passes today for musical expression is just way removed from what I think it used to be. Back in the 60's, the Kingsmen (who recorded Louie Louie) were brought up on obscenity charges for that song. I realize I lost track of modern music about 10 years ago. I'm a fuddy-duddy now. I guess I'll just have to trust my son and his judgement on what he'll be listening to as a teenager. I remember my mom screaming at me (she never yelled at me normally) to turn off Suicidal Tendancies (a punk band) when I was a teenager and I turned out fine. (I think )
  23. I chose a little of both. I wish I was smarter in both categories, but I do just fine as it is.
  24. What are you saying... Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
  25. I just found a website analyzing "Wheel in the Sky." http://www.journeydigest.com/Analysis/Char/may01.html I didn't read too much, but I figure a journeydigest websites has got to be good.
