  10. What do the stars mean? There are people who have been banned who have them while plenty of others who have made real contributions here have none , so I'd say the stars mean absolutely nothing.... I've always thought of the member ratings as the most useful feature of the forums. Last time I looked I had five stars, but now I'm down to three so I guess someone who likes me a lot must have submitted a "one". I need an explanation about the rating system and how does it work. don't think it will change your life by much but who knows; never quite understood what those ratings are good for; go on a member's profile page on the left below the picture on the left it says rating, there are 5 stars you can give someone a rating by clicking on the appropriate star; the thing displays the average of the stars given so far to the member... Thanks Niko. I gave you 5 stars for this explanation...

  12. The first time I saw him was many years ago at the Red Sea Jazz Festival. BTW: Pass It On landed yesterday in my POB.
  13. This is one of my favorites:
  14. I consider myself as a huge Wilen's fan but I really can't stand this recording. The reason is of course the synthesizers. I plan to sell it in the near future.
  15. If you like the playing of Hampton Hawes, you must listen to his recording with Mingus & Richmond:
  16. The discussion about George Cables in another thread has reminded me this beautiful trio recording from 1991. George Cable with Cecil McBee on bass & Billy Hart on drums in one of the best trio recordings in my collection. This is another opportunity to wish George Cables a speedy recovery.
