Much like Husband 1.0, Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its creator to run everything! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and return to Girlfriend 7.0. Hidden operating systems files cause Girlfriend 7.0 to emulate Wife 1.0, so nothing is gained. It is impossible to uninstall, delete, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to disallow this. Some have tried Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than in the original system. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under "Warnings - Alimony/Child Support." I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I might suggest you read the entire section regarding General Partnership Faults (GPFs). You must assume all responsibility for faults and problems that might occur, regardless of their cause. The best course of action will be to enter the command C:\ APOLOGIZE. In any case avoid excessive use of the "Esc" key because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command anyway before the operating system will return to normal. The system will run smoothly as long as you take the blame for all the GPFs. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 (which replaces Burn It 1.0), Trash 4.0, and Do Bills 4.2. You must, however, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program NagNag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1, Chocolates 5.0, Jewelry 4.0 or RomanticWeekend 1.0. Do not, under any circumstances, install ShortSkirtSecretary 3.3. This is not a supported application for Wife 1.0 and is likely to cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

Can't get with that binary stuff. More into A, G, C, T/U: "My RNA, I'm sorry I misread your UAAUAAUAA and inserted three tyrosines when you repeatedly asked me to stop. Something got lost in the translation. Please forgive me."

Amazing movie. I only saw it once, "at the movies" with a friend, and never read any explications -- but above was pretty much how I interpreted it (don't remember thinking/realizing that Diane actually had Camilla killed, however -- but maybe that's just because it's been a while since I saw it): IMHO, once you get the drift of the second half, the whole first half looks like a revenge/triumph fantasy: Betty comes to Rita's rescue, gets to imagine "Rita" being hurt and threatened while remaining entirely innocent (I mean, BETTY??!!) -- gets all the starring roles she didn't get in real life, imagines the comeuppance of the director who Camilla left her for... About lots of other stuff -- the live burlesque/magic show, the scary guy near the trash bin in the parking lot outside the diner, the creepy little "parents" who are 2nd-half miniatures of that 1st-half airport couple -- I subscribe to Adam's philosopy: I also must say that the scene where Diane is alone on the couch sobbing and trying to masturbate -- well (take a deep breath) -- is devastatingly emotionally honest -- a man (David Lynch) shows a beautiful woman in a sexual context on screen AND CONVEYS HER INTERNAL FEELINGS -- she's the subject, not the object -- it's an amazing accomplishment.

Was somebody offended? I too was amused (but needed to have the joke pointed out to me by Chris Cannoli, er, Catesta...)

Got it... that's definitely one for the blooper file!

I second that! Saw this lineup in NY in May (about a month after Vortex set was recorded) and really liked it: also includes Andy Milne on piano and Mark Ferber on drums.

AMG reviews are often maligned, but what this one said about the Rich-Little-of-the-tenor-Harry-Allen seems 'spot on' (as Bev might say): "In the liner notes, Allen gives thanks to the jazz fans in Japan, mavens of the carbon copy. When Harry meets his own true voice on his instrument, perhaps then the listener will be the one dancing. Until then this is for specialized tastes..." As far as the RAP Harry Allen (also 80s and 90s, not the 20s!) "hero" might be overblown, but he's not insignificant in my book. Have to at least empathize with the guy who, as a black music critic and supporter-of-rap at the Village Voice, had his freedom of opinion/expression challenged by Stanley Crouch's fist, which broke Allen's jaw and got Crouch fired. (Allen then spent some time in Public Enemy's entourage, as a publicist and occasionally onstage, cited in "Don't Believe the Hype" as "Harry Allen -- media assassin.") What does this have to do with blindfold test? Well, I guess my familiarity with 80s rap equates to not having logged enough jazz listening time to be bold enough to participate... (where's the EMBARRASSED smilie?)

I'm actually surprised I got 10 out of 12 right -- maybe it's because I usually only have one -- and spend an hour-and-a-half peeling the label off...
