Don't have that one, but it does look pretty sweet.
I've got several of his LPs and a few sideman dates - notably that bitchin' 2LP set on Kharma from Jerome Cooper, Positions 3-6-9, which has Kalaparusha as the other horn.
Yeah, me too. On vinyl, condition is the main issue for me. If it's not quasi mint, or a strong VG++ at least, I don't fool with it. Keeps my collection manageable, too.
I gave my rip of it a spin last night - hadn't in some time - and really enjoyed it, a lot more than I remember.
Maybe your contact with BGO could give it a little push, eh Sidewinder?
Malachi Favors was in a dream last night and he told me he wasn't paid to begin with on Certain Blacks. I shit you not.
Not that it makes the situation any "better" but we are assuming that artists were paid from the get-go, when often they were not. How much will a free download of Marc Levin's Savoy LP worsen the fact that he was paid maybe $50 to make it in the first place? (I'm talking devil's advocate here.)
Jonas Gwangwa is another, though I only know his playing from Marc Levin's Savoy LP (he's recorded since then as a leader, I believe).
Marty Cook is a strong player, at least from the few things I've heard him on.
