Don't have that one, but it does look pretty sweet. I've got several of his LPs and a few sideman dates - notably that bitchin' 2LP set on Kharma from Jerome Cooper, Positions 3-6-9, which has Kalaparusha as the other horn.

Yeah, me too. On vinyl, condition is the main issue for me. If it's not quasi mint, or a strong VG++ at least, I don't fool with it. Keeps my collection manageable, too.

I gave my rip of it a spin last night - hadn't in some time - and really enjoyed it, a lot more than I remember. Maybe your contact with BGO could give it a little push, eh Sidewinder?

Malachi Favors was in a dream last night and he told me he wasn't paid to begin with on Certain Blacks. I shit you not. Not that it makes the situation any "better" but we are assuming that artists were paid from the get-go, when often they were not. How much will a free download of Marc Levin's Savoy LP worsen the fact that he was paid maybe $50 to make it in the first place? (I'm talking devil's advocate here.)

There have easily been 3 million crappy/worthless records produced since the advent of the LP.

Just because somebody owns an independent record store doesn't mean they know anything about music or the "industry," or aren't crooks...

Will have to keep an eye out for the set - "Impressions" sounds great with Tony at the helm.

Jonas Gwangwa is another, though I only know his playing from Marc Levin's Savoy LP (he's recorded since then as a leader, I believe). Marty Cook is a strong player, at least from the few things I've heard him on.
