  1. Show me a coach that can fill the minds of quite a number of people with knowledge.
  2. Don't have that one - but I'd like to. Entirely different session. Still hoping to hear tapes of the version with Keith Tippett!
  3. Good find ! I don't know about "find" because it wasn't cheap... but the Google search engine beats eBay quite frequently.
  4. John Stevens and Co. - Spontaneous Music Ensemble - (Polydor) Finally got this on vinyl.
  5. He really fucked up that European jazz book and there isn't any excuse for that.
  6. Not "jazz" but I just wanted to post one of these wretched later ESP covers:
  7. Vince Bendetti?
  8. Ornette, Dewey, Haden and Blackwell. You know what you're getting into... Edit to add: the Paris Concert on Trio kills it, but the Haden-Blackwell team, to me, notch this one above the BNs.
  9. I'm waiting for you to post a clean spare of Freddie Redd - Under Paris Skies - (Futura).
  10. lunchtime listening: Ornette - Friends and Neighbors Live at Prince Street - (Flying Dutchman orig)
  11. Speaking of which, what is the ETA on the CD version of Saga of the Outlaws? Have it on LP and it's a fantastic session.
  12. I haven't cracked mine yet - need some time to delve into it. The LPs weren't always the greatest-sounding (pressing, mastering) but they were what was there. FWIW, I never felt that the quality of the vinyl got in the way of the music.
  13. Lee Morgan - Leeway - (BN UA stereo)
  14. Sonny Clark - Blues in the Night - (BN King orig)
  15. Actually, I seek those out. Far superior to most RVG remasters.
  16. They're not bad. "Don't need talk at all!"
  17. I keep them inside the jacket so they don't mar the cover image. I will say that on the few Japanese records that I've sold, it's been a bitch to get those suckers back on...
  18. I don't know about "sound," but I always felt like the only quality (musically) LP in that set was the Murray/Roscoe split.
  19. Yeah, he's hawking his LPs for pretty high prices...
  20. I thought there was a P-Vine CD of Scorpio.
  21. Roland Kirk - Now Please Don't You Cry, Beautiful Edith - (Verve gf orig)
  22. I have the Sunspots reissue of the Silva Seasons LP, recorded by ORTF, because the original pressing is so poor. That CD set sounds really good. The remaining Actuels, of which I have uh - all of them, vary widely in recording quality as well as pressing. The ones done at Studio Saravah I remember being pretty good, like the Don Cherrys and (I think) the Dewey Redman.
  23. Eric Dolphy - Quintet USA - (Unique Jazz) w/ Armour, Hancock, Davis and Bateman. Performance info not listed, but I assume this is the Gaslight date?
  24. Television - Adventure - (Elektra orig)
  25. I think he does just as much work "selling" Braxton in the notes - if not more - than explaining the milieu around the time these records were originally released. They're a bit disorganized for me and it sounds, to me, like he hasn't done as much listening as he should be doing - especially to other musicians, others in the AACM, etc. The European jazz book really was not my shit, even though that music is very important to me.
