  1. It seems we have a chance to get one record impossibile to find even in Brownie's collection: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT
  2. Correct.
  3. I am not familiar with US prices, but you can't go wrong with Pro-Ject and Rega, maybe it worths to listen at the new Thorens too. I presume you are not an HIFI freak like me, but I would check some used TT, at least in Italy you can find brand new used TT at decent prices. One thing you definitely have to do is to place the TT on a solid vibration free stand, I mean that you don't have to to buy some ludicrous priced hi tech stand, but you have to find a good place to 'place' the TT. I use a big block of stone I found in my sister's house when she did some mural works.
  4. Some questions: 350 bucks for the whole system? (turntable, arm, cartridge) New or used? Have you a phono stage on your amp/preamp?
  5. I tend to agree with Sal, not the best BN Morgan date, but, hey, I never heard Lee playing 'bad', and the other players slightly changed the taste of 'typical BN hard bop'. One curiousity, I can hear some 'Jarrettesque' moanin on the right channel on side 1 of my BN LT record, is it Higgins?
  6. Or the Ellington Rca, but CDs are supposed to be perfect and last forever...
  7. Is it any good? Just spinning Basil Kirchin 'Abstractions of the Industrial North' (Trunk Records). From 1966, Jimmy Page meets Tubby Hayes ( ) ← Yes, I mean they are great, but TEN lps of piano solos...in two days That's exactly the reason because I prefer single album rather than sets, and LP rather than cd, my concentration skills faded with my age
  8. I am not a Bert's expert, but I love his playing with Mingus.
  9. I am at the end of Jarret's marathon: just bought a used copy of SUN BEAR CONCERTS, ten LPs to check, and listen to. It's almost a job!
  10. What a coincidence, I just watched at tv a program about the lack of italian young goalkeepers, it seems that our famous goalkeeper's school is faded. We imported gk from overseas, Dida is the name I remember at the moment. The old times of Dino Zoff are gone!
  11. I am not a big fan of fotball nor an expert, but I watch at tv half of the game Brasil Chile. Wow! I am sorry for the rest of the world, me included, but BRASIL IS THE TEAM. I wish Italy could have the long gone defense of AC Milan, Baresi, Maldini, Albertini and Costacurta, against the Cariocas.
  12. At this point you should have spinned enough singles (malt), now you are ready for a swirl Vertigo label record.
  13. Thanks! I think that the solo discs were first iussued in this set and then realeased as 2 single cds from Fantasy.
  14. The highest price in Italy today is 6.47 per gallon for unleaded, if I converted all correctly.
  15. Does anybody know exactly wich original first pressing of Evans' album are included in this box set?
  16. It seems a great program. Enjoy it!
  17. I decided to replace my old Imac (first series) with a minimac, keepin mouse and keyboard (almost new), I am lookin for a good, and cheaper than Apple's, flat monitor, let's say at least 17 inches. I would like a good and trustful resolution because we will use it with Photoshop. Any suggestion?
  18. She thinks it's safer than Ebay and sex chat line
  19. I hope that you mean "other side" in a literal sense too 'cause freezing air conditioning doesn't exist in your neck of the woods - I'm tellin ya - I walked 10 to 15 miles a day there in July and August and bicyclists, too, were everywhere! When someone did drive, it was in a smaller fuel efficient car. (There's talk of bringing the "Smart" car to the US). I guess that there are no moms with 4 kids in Europe! ← I mean that you can save gasoline in alot of ways, a part cars. In Italy we suffered a energy black out, the whole country was without electricity for 24 hours, because of airconditioning boom. Well, it was the warmest summer of the last century...anyway if you build houses with intelligence you can save energy, gasoline, in summer and winter. I am sure you could find hundred of websites about it. The point is another: when serious enviromentalists will be something different that crazy Cassandras for the guys we have voted for?
  20. Why don't you play live on-line on the forum, it would be great! I promise: I will not bootleg you!
  21. Correct: for some countries it would be easier to spare gasoline with public transports, etc. On the other side: Do we really need freezing airconditioning everywhere? Do we really need cars with an gasoline average consumptions like trucks? Do we really need to use plastic for everything? Do we really etc., etc...
  22. In my opinion the new formats came too late and have some user unfriendly problems for fighting a war with on-line music; they already started to test high resolution downloading, it's a matter of time. One of these days we will be able to download SACD quality music on Ipodlike gear. Sure SACD and DVD could survive as niche like vinyl.
  23. As vinyl's lover I follow the format's war of Hi Rez from a absent-minded point of view, but recently I noted a thing. An italian audiophile label made an experiment: they recorded a Listz piano sonata and feeded the signal directly in two state of art systems: a SACD and DVD-A. All the reviewers of an Hi-End journal had to admint that DVD was a slightly better sounding than SACD, the very same opposite of their previous opinions. Considering that SACD is winning the race, boosted by major labels and gear's producers, I am asking myself: could it be that the main reasons for that is that SACD is more difficult to copy? For instance I could burn a disc from an hybrid Stones only in my old cdrom unit. The new cd/dvd unit didn't recognised the disc.
  24. 40, cds and lps, that makes me a tempered Duke's fan, or an ignorant jazz lover
