  2. Wow, and it's a CD set!!!!
  3. Interesting question, but I don't think I will last enough for an answear.
  4. I second that. ITCOTCK is unbeatable on original vinyl (UK Island pink label), all the Crimson's albums sound gorgeous on original UK Island pressing. I think that Crimson's records are a good example of the great analog era, with Decca, BN, Prestige. I sold my HDCD digital versions of them, when I listened to the original vinyl. The MoFi vinyl is great too. The only problem is that original vinyl are damn expensive!
  5. As expert sommelier like I am, I have to say your idea of vine is sick! Cheers!

  10. Damn, I lost this thread since now, but I would suggest Roma, CAPUT MUNDI. We have sun, great food and wine, and a perfect place for the political forum

  12. Actually, I would give the saxes at a Jazz Museum as loan, I couldn't resist to play a couple of notes on Trane's soprano now and then.
  13. In occasions like this I would be richer... http://www.guernseys.com/Auctions/Jazz/Featured.html#
  14. Interesting story. What about Hank Jones? Did he simply enjoy the elevator's show, or did he intervene in some way?
  15. I did it!
  16. LARRY YOUNG CONTRASTS BN stereo (DEUTSCHE PRESSE)
  17. I found this box set at my records shop: DUKE ELLINGTON: THE ELLINGTON ERA 1927-1940 VOLUME ONE COLUMBIA C3L27. 3 records Red Mono Mabel. Do you have any info about the sonic quality and the tracks. Are the RCA recordings licensed? Any infos are welcome
  18. Forgive me if I don't honour JS, but I have to react at bad news so:
  19. MILES' THE MAN WITH A HORN
  20. I am with Blake: my sister is a non professional classic guitarist and she had the same problems/limitations you have and she got a Linn Classik. Brilliant piece of audio gear, if you like Linn sound, I do. With the appropriate speakers sounds gorgeus and you will not have any problems for ages. The only limitation is that is a red book cd player only: no dvd, no sacd, no mp3. If you can live w/o new format...I couldn't live w/o old format (vinyl).
  21. JOHN COLTRANE "Ascension" (Impulse stereo, "version 1") The great thing about the more avantgarde Coltrane's recordings is that you can find pristine original pressings, maybe the previous owners did not listen at them very often.
  22. Thanks Chuck! A part the sound quality, the german pressings are long lasting vinyl in my experience, I didn't need to replace any of them with a cd, and I am talking about more then 20 years of listening with every sort of turntable. I am still buying used german pressings and they are usually great, like my old BMW motorbike, no one can stop it!.
  23. I am used to the high quality german pressing of ECM vinyl. I noted that on several on line US shop there are a lot of ECM records at good prices, lets say NM records under 8 dollars or less. Since I don't know nothing about the quality of US pressing (US ECM are pressed in US, are they?) , is anybody out there that have more experience? I was asking myself if it worth waiting for german pressings, usually more expensive, (at least in italian shops) , or if I can spare some euros.
  24. I have the same problem with Ebay, the US auctions end in the middle of the night, and I have to sleep. Usually I wake up in the morning and check on ebay I lost the auction for a couple of dollars. Damn time zone!
