  3. Scorpio pressing? How does it sound? Was eyeing up a 'Mr Shing-a-Ling' from same source this afternoon and came near to trying it out. I picked it at the shop, in the DJ bins, brand new, at normal price, (for DJ records) five or six years ago I think. No idea how to identify the pressing. The vinyl is ok, the sound not really, quite lifeless, compared to the originals of the same era, like 'Slow Drag' I am listen to right now. edit: I was listen to BLACKBYRD, not BLACKJACK wich I have in a nice Liberty dress. Sorry.

  8. Welcome to the tube world, lots of nice people over here.
  9. Tommy Lee? Is he a drummer? I thought he was only the guy on that Pam Anderson's private tape... One and the same. He's the drummer for Motley Crue. Ach so, and does he handle drumsticks in the same way?

  12. I am sorry, I don't. Linn's stuff is usually a bit more expensive then most common brands, but they have, at least in Europe, a terrific customer service, and their stuff is usually very reliable, I owned, and still own, several Linn's gears and I wasn't never disappointed by them. What I can say about the sound is that is never dull, very detailed, but not analytical, just musical. I mean that I am never tired to listen to music through Linn's gears and that is the best reccomendation IMHO.
  13. http://www.linn.co.uk/majik-i I don't know the price in US, but it seems it has all the features you need. Otherwise you can look for in the NAD catalogue. I guess you can find some good used stuff in the power/pre combo too.

  18. None really - as I asked in the previous post, are Mosaics a good investment? If they are comparable to other forms of investment in typical rates of return, then it's not mad. But there's a strong suggestion in other posts that this particular seller doesn't know what he's doing as far as getting the best result on his investment is concerned. So, if he's not listening to the music but buying for investment and he doesn't know how best to get his return, that's mad. MG Well, this is 'his' problem. Any business requires some knowledge, and a fair amount of work, in order to maximize the profit. Apparently the guy is not a great seller, or maybe he need the money at this very moment.
  19. I can't see anything wrong in it. People "invest" in art since ancient Greece. Most of the music on the OOP Mosaic is available in cheaper form. So what's the problem? Selling records is a commercial activity, a business like many others, I contemplated the idea of turn my passion into a full time job several times, when I was fade up of my usual job. BTW I have some Mosaics I listened to once, or not at all. I am happy for having some unknown stuff on the shelves I can listen to in the cold winter's nights.
