  1. This looks like a great show to chatch if you're in NYC on March 28th. Blue Note.
  2. Tom Terrific (Seaver) Steve Carlton Vida Blue
  3. I put this CD in my player today. I glanced at the back and noticed something I never paid attention to before. "Please be aware of the short playing time of this compact disc...." I wonder why Fantasy records felt obligated to state this. I scanned the back of the CD and attached it here. Typically records weren't that long back in the 50s.
  4. Joan Crawford Ernest Borgnine Marty
  5. The book came out in January of this year. Yes, that's why there is a gap in his recordings. He spent 5 years in prison. He talks about in the late 40s while in Dizzy's band snorting heroin with Coltrane. Coltrane over dosed and Jimmy revived him. But they both kept using heroin. One fact he did clear up was, Dizzy was clean. He didn't didn't use heroin and would fire anyone in the band if he found out.
  6. This weekend I caught Paul Motian at the Village Vanguard. I must say I have listened to him, but never saw Motian live. I enjoyed him live more than on record. Any fans of Paul Motian? I'm looking for a suggestion on what would be a good CD to pick up by him.
  7. Sad news. It is all too common. RIP Joe.
  8. Tuesday, I am going to see the Heath Brothers at Dizz's Club.
  9. I am half way through this book and I must say it is very interesting. Jimmy didn't hold anything back in this book. I didn't realize how heavy he was into using heroin in the 40s and 50s. He lost out on a lot because of his addiction. Has anyone else here read this book? I would suggest this to someone looking for a good book to read.
  10. Thanks. I just found that myself. Nothing new. Odd that at the site I came across this had a recording date of June 1, 1960. I got excited. Even Allmusic.com has that date as the recording date.
  11. Can anyone tell me more about this recording? Is it a compilation CD or something else? It has recording date of June 1, 1960. I've never heard of this one before.
  12. Speed Racer Kimba the white lion Anime
  13. I hope all the people of Japan will be safe. Really scary a 8.9 quake. Glad to hear the board memebers in Japan are okay.
  14. Herbie the Love Bug. Bugs Bunny Leghorn Foghorn
  15. Well, Frank Sinatra said he is the best jazz singer. I think he is a jazz singer. I have seen him live 3 times. All 3 times he performed some of the same tunes, and each time the approach was different. To me that's a jazz artists.
  16. Mad Max Tina Turner Ted Turner
  17. Fang vampire Max Schreck
  18. Nubile Lolita Nabokov
  19. I like many of here, have a large collection of music, but do you have one particular recording that you listen to over and over again? I find myself always pulling out Grant Green's The complete Quartets with Sonny Clark.
  20. Have a wondeful day.
  21. Ty Pennington Chad
  22. He was before my time, but I saw some footage of him hitting. What a nice swing. Anyone remember watching Duke play?
  23. Friday, I recall one encore. Did he play 3 encores on Saturday?
  24. In an email to a friend of mine, there may be a good chance that part of this 80th birthday concert getting released in the fall. I would hope it is the Sonnymoon For Two with Ornette. But Sonny may think differently.
  25. When I bought my ticket at the box office, I asked the woman if they were playing together or with their own bands. She said "I believe together." Oh well, it is still going to be a great night of music.
