  2. I guess James couldn't get that stain out of his jacket.
  3. Back in October 1994 Don Pullen played with Najee. I can't see this working. To me Pullen was a genius, so maybe he was able to pull it off. A recording of this does exist, which I hope to obtain soon. To me Najee is an extension of the G-man. Anyone can think of any other odd parings?
  4. try this, press the ctrl key and shift and *, that should turn it off for you.
  5. Same here, but for both Sonny and Horace, somethin made me ask. Sonny signed his S as a treble clef.
  6. It is time to replace the needle on my turntable. Although I don't use my turntable all that much anymore, I know it is time to replace it. I went into a local vinyl record store to get a price, and it was close to $130. I find that very expensive. All I need is the needle, and not the cartridge. Any site someone could recommend?
  7. I've followed jazz since the 70s. I have seen many shows, and in the 30 plus years I've only asked for two autographs. Sonny Rollins and Horace Silver. Anyone here collect autographs of jazz musicians? If yes, who do you have?

  17. Anyone here have this album? It is long out of print. I'm trying to collect all the live albums recorded at the Village Vanguard. How good is this one?
  18. When I saw Sam Rivers in concert this spring, Sam said he recorded just about everything for 7 years. There is a lot of music to go through in making this collection. At the concert Michael Cuscuna was there and he said there is so much music to choose from for this Mosaic. Maybe the final selections haven't been picked yet.
  19. Wow this looks like it will be a great concert. I will have to go to this. Jazz Jam Ahmad Jamal/Lee Konitz Fri-Sat, Feb 25-26, 8:00pm Rose Theater Miles Davis famously said that he wanted to have a son who could play piano like Ahmad Jamal. It's easy to hear why Jamal has been hailed as one of the major architects of modern jazz piano, with his irresistible gift for melody, his appealingly broad and open harmonic palette, and his astonishing rhythmic drive. Lee Konitz is a master saxophonist and one of the great living improvisers of our time. Sixty years ago, Konitz helped Miles Davis and Gerry Mulligan invent "Cool Jazz," and ever since, has been showing generations of jazz musicians how it's done. This concert is available as part of our Jazz Jam Series subscription package.
