  2. Wow, my topic disappeared. Anyway, my question was a simple one. I listened to about 30 to 40 Count Basie sessions, and not one does Freddie Green ever solo. On one Count says, "This tune will feature our guitarist" and all Freddie Green does is play cord at the end of the tune. Even his one session as a leader he doesn't solo. Did he ever take a solo on record? If yes, what is that record?

  4. I learned to always shake the CD before I buy it. If the CD is moving around in the case, the teeth are broken.
  5. There is just 5 still with us from that wonderful photo entitled "A Great Day In Harlem." It was just amazing how many musicians were able to get up to take the photo in the first place. Maybe a lot of them were still up from the night before.

  10. I was pleasantly surprise to hear a entirely different set list from him last week. It was wonderful, he only repeated one tune that he always plays, "Whiskey Drinking." Thanks Lou, you can still play beautifully at 83.

  23. Covering a Stones tune was wonderful. He made it completely his own tune if you know what I am going with this. Yes he was a genius who got sour later in life, but he will always be the king.
