  2. I found this old thread. Anyone have anymore info on the 2 unissued Grant Green sessions?
  3. The music was there, but I didn't stop to realize what a genius he was. I had a chance to see him but didn't on May 27, 2004. He was playing the Rose Room at Lincoln center with Lou Donaldson. Instead the wife wanted to see the musical "Mama Mia."
  4. A Streetcar Named Desire was such a great movie Karl Malden, the Academy Award-winning actor whose intelligent characterizations on stage and screen made him a star despite his plain looks, died Wednesday, his family said. He was 97. Malden died of natural causes surrounded by his family at his Brentwood home, they told the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. He served as the academy's president from 1989-92. While he tackled a variety of characters over the years, he was often seen in working-class garb or military uniform. His authenticity in grittier roles came naturally: He was the son of a Czech mother and a Serbian father, and worked for a time in the steel mills of Gary, Indiana, after dropping out of college. 10. Yeah, beat the bootleggers at their own game. One problem, those who would most likely be interested in the Ronnie Scott shows really aren't into MP3s.
  11. Another one. Lou Donaldson chatting with a women in the front at the Vanguard during a set. He tells her he has his blue pill in his pokcet.(Viagra).
  12. In 2004, I saw Jimmy Smith at the Iridium in NYC. My wife and I were sitting up against the stage. I was smiling and digging the music. Jimmy Stops and yells out, "What the fuck are you smiling at? I'll come down there and kick your ass." My wife leaned over and asked if he was talking to me. Jimmy was still staring, and he then said, "I'll kick your bitches ass too." I use to think it was funny, but now I think that it was sort of sad. I ended speaking with someone who was working with Jimmy. I'm not sure if it was his road manager, but he said Jimmy is angry that he still had to work this late in life, please excuse him. I guess he didn't write too many tunes to get the publishing rights. His albums did sell like hot cakes for Blue Note and Verve, so he should have made some money from them.
  13. Ray Charles. Yeah I've listen to him for years, but it seemed like background music until now. Just gave a listen to these two CDs. "Genius + Soul = Jazz" and "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music vol 1" and I am blown away by both of these sessions. I need to get a copy of "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music Vol 2" next

  21. Besides these two albums, are there anymore from this band? For Klook French Cooking I know I have seen more. I do have a few radio broadcasts that someone made me copies of a while back. I'm hoping there exists some more from this band. Woody Shaw and Joe Henderson together is such a wonderful combination, like mac and cheese.
  22. Claude Van Damme Vincent Van Gogh Claude Monet
  23. It might just be him. Thanks Chuck.
