  1. In 2004, I saw Jimmy Smith at the Iridium in NYC. My wife and I were sitting up against the stage. I was smiling and digging the music. Jimmy Stops and yells out, "What the fuck are you smiling at? I'll come down there and kick your ass." My wife leaned over and asked if he was talking to me. Jimmy was still staring, and he then said, "I'll kick your bitches ass too." I use to think it was funny, but now I think that it was sort of sad. I ended speaking with someone who was working with Jimmy. I'm not sure if it was his road manager, but he said Jimmy is angry that he still had to work this late in life, please excuse him. I guess he didn't write too many tunes to get the publishing rights. His albums did sell like hot cakes for Blue Note and Verve, so he should have made some money from them.
  2. Ray Charles. Yeah I've listen to him for years, but it seemed like background music until now. Just gave a listen to these two CDs. "Genius + Soul = Jazz" and "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music vol 1" and I am blown away by both of these sessions. I need to get a copy of "Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music Vol 2" next

  10. Besides these two albums, are there anymore from this band? For Klook French Cooking I know I have seen more. I do have a few radio broadcasts that someone made me copies of a while back. I'm hoping there exists some more from this band. Woody Shaw and Joe Henderson together is such a wonderful combination, like mac and cheese.
