  1. That one of the perks of living in NY. The jazz still flies high. I will give a full review of the show.
  2. I will be at their show Thursday. Did anyone catch the first night? I was wondering if they were on? Some reports from members here say Jackie and Grachan have lost their chops. Hope not! I wish the 3 would do an album together. But with Jackie and Grachan both not signed to a label, I guess not.
  3. I was there about 2 years ago. Sold a guitar through them. It a great store located in Staten Island. While I was there I heard someone whailing on a guitar. It turned out to be Eric Clapton. Don't know if he bought the guitar he was playing. Man, that dude can play. Makes it seem so easy. Mandolin Brothers
  4. Thanks, I have to listen to it tonight. I had read once, that Monk told someone, it was intentional, part of his solo.
  5. Well they caught the jerk that made the bomb threat here yesterday. Jerk used his cell phone and it was traced. He lived in Brooklyn. Police went and arested him this morning. If you're going to put in a bomb threat, use a pay phone, at least you can't be traced like a cell phone.
  6. Does anyone recall the Miles and Monk tune where it appears that Monk forgets where he's at in the tune and Miles has to start playing the head to lead him back in?
  7. Diligent and lazy at the same time. But mainly a musician. Played in a punk rock band.
  8. I have 6 Art Farmer records. This the best of the 6. The arragments by Benny Golson and Gigi Gyrce are wonderful.
  9. Welcome Jeanfl, you may want to read this thread on arch top guitars. Guitars
  10. Have a great b-day.
  11. I studied classical music in school. Plus my wife likes classical music. She tries to get me to play just this at home. But I need my jazz as well.
  12. Today at work someone called in a bomb threat. Everyone left the building for about 2 hours. Then we were told we could come back to work. The police brought dogs, but these does looked a bit too old to be sniffing out bombs. Some co-workers just left and went home. Well since I am typing this, I guess the building is safe. If you wanted to blow up the building, why phone it in?
  13. I dare you ... After a few drinks I'll have enough nerve.
  14. Well if you need to know, I will be at his show on Tursday. I will ask him. He grew up in the Harlem NY. Which at the time was and still is very much of African American decent.
  15. I agree with you 100% on this. The younger crowd would go see it because it has Snoop's name on it.
  16. A whopping 263 posts.
  17. Do you recall how your brother selected the organ as his instrument of choice? Did he also play piano?
  18. Yes, I'll be Istanbul during there festival. Probale see John Scofield.
  19. I agree 100%. So much of the time, though, the electric bass, to me, is not played well. As a result, I tend to prefer the acoustic bass. Thta's the key for me, it has to be played well. I wonder in players like Ron Carter, Ray Brown and others of their acclaim, ever recorded with the electric bass?
  20. When I think of jazz, I can always pitcher the walking bass sound from those giant upright instruments. Do you think the electric bass has the same feel to it as its counterpart?
  21. Thanks. I will order from them. Some good stuff on there site.
  22. Gary, do you know of any organ players that your brother was inspired by or like to listen to?
