  1. McMaster circa '96 vs RVG. Who digs which?
  2. I got really lucky yesterday and scored this one on vinyl for $36 . It's my first Goodman outside of the Carnegie concert, and 8 sides into it I'm really digging it. Can't beat the price...
  3. Anybody compared the JRVG/Conn of Easterly Winds?
  4. Thanks, everybody- I've got most of the individual CDs already, including the VMEs of Basin Street, Brown and Roach and the Sarah Vaughan. But I don't have CB's All-Stars or all of the extra Dinah Washington tracks. Nevermind that there's a host of alternate takes. I think I'll be saving this one for the estate as well.
  5. Thanks, Chuck. I can own it for $75...
  6. I've got a shot at the Brownie box, but it's old remastering. How does it sound?
  7. I've just gotten a TOCJ CD of this and now I really want to hear the material complete and unedited. Does anyone have a CD-R of the original LP they could share with me? Please?
  8. Wow, wish I'd had that pic! The show was great: no Dr. Lonnie, Just Lou playing with the Duke University Jazz Ensemble. Sometimes with the entire 22 piece band (Fried Buzzard, Dat Dere, Limehouse Blues), others with smaller configurations (Launching Pad and a sublime "Laura"). The man has not lost a single chop. Some of LD's relatives from Badin showed up too! I got an autograph and a handshake...
  9. Would anyone be kind enough to photocopy and mail me any or all 3? I'll glady pay for copies and postage. Thanks! Sandy
  10. But don't expect to find the Rivers title at Deep Discount. Found the Larry Young, the Jack Wilson, the Hill... but no Contours!
  11. QUOTE] Well, Branford gets pretty doctrinaire in his own way sometimes, (read some of his statements after he lost the Columbia gig) but he certainly doesn't deserve disrespect or a bad rep for that.
  12. Nah. But great graphics!
  13. There's one track on the RVG of Brownie's Jazz Immortal too. And there was alot of talk (in another thread) that the RVG of Duke Pearson's Sweet Honey Bee is all from a vinyl source. Anyone know if there's truth to that?
  14. That would be my laughable offer, which was followed by trading emails in which he accused me of planning to re-sell for profit. Glad to hear he's discussing me with others. I'll be buying nothing, thanks. edit: I figure Grey would sell it for $15. Is he back from vacation yet?
  15. I killed the thread.
  16. I could come up with a fat wish list, I'm sure
  17. Anybody familiar with this one? Gilberto Gil's '69 self-titled LP. It's a fantastic psychedlic record...
  18. No newly discovered unreleased tracks, just a sweet set for the slightly more than casual Chet listener. Glad I don't feel compelled to shell out, especially since the four September 21st reissues look mighty tasty.
  19. I didn't say I don't like it! It's just, imo, the lesser of the BNs. It's still a better record than most. Bad records don't happen with Jimmy Heath and Philly Joe in the band. I'm gonna go play it now!
  20. Of all the BNs, Hub Cap is the only one that doesn't knock me out. And I still dig it...
  21. So who's upgraded Tender Moments and Free for All and how happy are you about it?
  22. I love Chet's voice, but only when recorded by Dick Bock (and the "It Could Happen to You" Riverside). Hit and mostly miss afterwards. But back on topic: Anyone learned anything about the mysterious 3-disc set?
  23. I can lay my hands on a sealed vinyl reissue of The Free Slave easily, unless it's vanished from the racks where I work...
  24. PM'd you on that, sir.
