I have just about everything the Beatles recorded, and I put it all on my iPod... except for that song. Listening to Ringo butcher the lyrics, the awkward phrasing... I find it painful and embarrassing. The opening line is supposed to be "I'm sitting here wondering, will a matchbox hold my clothes". To me, it souds like Ringo sings: "I'm sitting here watching a matchbox holding my clothes, I'm sitting here wondering... a matchbox holding my clothes...". ??? To make matters worse, look how it's been twisted further by some genius transcribers... here's what the first few links provided when I googled "matchbox lyrics beatles": "I said I'm sitting here watching matchbox hole in my clothes I said I'm sitting here wondering matchbox hole in my clothes". At least there's no talk of pheasants!

I was able to scrape 75 cents together when the Let it Be single was out...

I recorded the marathon today, thanks for the tip! Saving it until after season 2. That's the one that I applauded from my couch.

Just because there's no such thing as Kinksmania, that's no reason to talk smack about 'em. From Face to Face through Percy, they were making amazing music. And there's no way in hell the Fabs weren't paying attention to their output.

I'm on disc 3 of the 1st season and actually applauded at the end of the episode I watched last night.

I went from a Miata to a 2005 Scion XB. It's a different experience handling-wise, but it'll fit 5 if it has to, 4 easily. And they're relatively cheap. I mean, I have one...

I was going to say that the Kinks were probably instrumental in bringing the music hall out in the Beatles...

It sounded to me like they were biased against the mono from the get-go, because that's what the audiophiles, with their super-hearing, like. My hearing is crap and, with no new mono mixes in the house, there's Purble Chick monos that I enjoy more than the new stereo ones. On normal stereo equipment, even.

An astonishing way to bow out, really.

The PCs sound swell, but the new remasters? There's stuff you just can't hear on the needle drops that are plain as day on the stereo discs. And that's not the answer I want to give- the PCs are way cheaper than the mono box. If you know what I'm saying.

I love the Trio disc more than I love most things. For Freeman and Twardzik. And the 10" jacket pic that Claxton shot is the swellest. Did anyone see the Claxton documentary that Freeman was all over? Lots of good interview there. Also: Has anyone heard "Safe at Home", the Freeman Trio recorded live in Vancouver, 1959? 10 tracks, Justin Time, 2005. It gets bad customer reviews at Amazon, but for not being the other guy. It's pretty sweet. (Edit: emusic has it too)
