  1. Thanks, Scott. Tough year for my guys, injury-wise. 2nd place was quite an accomplishment in spite of it all. Enjoy the WS win and bask in the off season glow, my friend. Your guys deserved it.
  2. Congrats to the Royals fans and to you, Scott! Been a long time coming...I can relate.
  3. Great news, Greg! Glad your grandson is OK.
  4. Dynasty Giants. Somehow...like the sound of that. Thanks, Scott.
  5. Been out of the country so I have missed most of the playoffs and WS. But I did see a fair amount of cricket, rugby, soccer and tennis...and in several different languages. Looks like the Royals are seriously motivated. My money is on them.
  6. It does. Thanks, Aggie.
  7. No need to apologize, Greg. Family always comes first. I hope and pray he will be OK.....you're a good grandfather, my friend.
  8. I'm with you. Seems a lot of the time these challenges are being used just to play mind games with the other manager/bench. I think if that starts happening with any regularity [like with Mattingly and the Dodgers] they need to yank the privilege. FWIW...
  9. Hang in there, Mark. I'm here to tell you that there is hope after the worst of it. I'm doing OK and another friend of mine battling this same cancer is better as well. Attitude is everything, my friend. Keep up the fight. Never give in to it.
  10. Mark is battling the very same cancer that I have. We spoke via PM several months ago and he and I swapped treatment stories/options. The treatments are brutal and just sap all of your strength...plus it's chronic and requires constant monitoring. I'm stronger now, but if his absence is any indication he is probably in the thick of it right now. This is the time to support the guy. FWIW...
  11. Thanks! I'm still in shock about this season for the 'Stros so far. Exceeded my expectations and most fans, I think. The two times I saw Carlos Correa in person while he was with our local team this season, I never imagined he'd be playing in October *this year*. Dude only turned 21 two weeks ago. I'd love to see a competitive series against the Royals now! The 'Stros Fresno Triple-A club won the Pacific League Championship, too. These guys are stacked now and I suspect will be helping the parent club for many years to come.
  12. Chase Uttley is a punk. That is all. Carry on.
  13. Odor was out. The replay umps didn't have the guts to make the call. That opened the door to that two-run inning which eventually won the game. Martin sticking his arm out to take a walk was equally inexcusable.
  14. As an outside observer since I have no dog in this fight, two things: Oodor was out, Martin purposely stuck his arm out to get hit. Bad umpiring all around.
  15. Yeah, nothing beats watching a pitcher strike out 4 or 5 times a game. Not in Giants-land. Our pitchers can hit!
  16. Hey Aggie... How 'bout them Astros? I knew they'd play better in the AL West. Congrats! I never much cared for that inter-league stuff either. For me, it was always the fun part of the World Series to see the NL square off against the AL. Besides, that DH nonsense spoils the game for us hardcore baseball purists. I can tolerate it for a couple WS games, but not an entire season's worth. I'm with Jim on this one.
  17. Only seven teams at 90 wins or better. Wow.
  18. I was at the Giants vs Dodgers game on Thursday. Nice to see Hudson get a standing O when he came off the mound. Then Affeldt, who also retires this season, came in for him. Pretty cool. Sadly, the bad guys got us. Oh, well. Until next year.... Go Warriors!
  19. Yeah, I don't hold out much hope, either. But I do wish my Giants could spank the Dodgers with a sweep. Then I can rest a little bit easier.
  20. Giants win! Dodgers lose! Woot!
  21. Glad the Mets won the NL East. Been a long time.
  22. We feel the same way about the Giants. The call-ups and second stringers have been performing quite well of late. Jarrett Parker and his three HRs and seven RBIs helped sink the A's yesterday. The "Odd Year Blues", however, has settled in. But, ever hopeful, I have tickets to the 4th game of the Giants vs Dodgers series at ATT. Here's hoping for one more sweep.
  23. Could you explain to this West Coaster what the so-called "Harvey mess" is? I keep reading this in the sporting news and I have no idea what it is about. GO Cubbies!
  24. Hot and smokey from all the forest fires. The air is pretty much unbreathable.
