  1. Last night's red wine....2003 Castoro Cellars Meritage.
  2. Oh, and as a long suffering Giants fan, I welcome Barry Zito with opened arms! Finally, some bonafide pitching. I further predict that Zito's game will naturally elevate the rest of the guys on the pitching staff. Armando "Strike zone....what strike zone?" Benitez being the most notable exception [ugh. What a tragedy on two legs that guy is.]. As to his contract, with Bonds departing at the end of this season and Benitez will surely get kicked to the curb as well, that will free up a ton of cash. I'm not worried.
  3. You gotta look more closely, and you won't be astonished as much. There's a large, active baseball thread. Ah, yes...but it is the Hot Stove Thread. The season is but a month away now and I figured on being the first to fire up a thread to begin the new season. I like to be proactive about these things
  4. E&J Brandy. I am but a humble civil servant....
  5. OK. I know it's been a while since I've been here....but it astonishes me that there is no baseball thread on this BBS! I am here to start it. And I'm a Giants fan.
  6. Not that it matters...but my mother-in-law lives in Concord, NC. She loves it there. [And thank God, too. I live in California....um, did I say that?]
  7. Brittany Shears you mean?
  8. The franchise owner needs to be taken out and slapped. Did you guys see the pictures? Ack
  9. Finally, it warmed up a bit in the San Joaquin Valley. 20's and teens were decimating the citrus orchards hereabouts
  10. Streetlight is a great place to buy CDs. BFrank likes Amoeba, but I have no experience there....but I understand the selection is nothing short of magnificent. Rhino is another spot worth checking out too, IMHO.
  11. Great stuff here, Mike! I hope the shows go well for you
  12. I would suggest: Oscar Brashear Terrance Blanchard Roy Hargrove
  13. Giants have won five in a row ....and the Bums are slipping. Life is good again
  14. My wife was listening to country and western and soft rock when we first met. Not crazy about Jazz, but at least she's stopped listening to C&W. ACK!
  15. [i had a student named David Pigg. Rumor had it his sister's name was Ima. No kidding] Thomas Jefferson Jefferson Davis Davis Bynum
  16. Yes I do Ah, the Big Daddy! My dad used to race against him when he was a professional drag-racer in the 60's & 70's. I think I even met him once when I was a kid. Boy, those were the days, before corporate sponsorship drove out all the ones who raced simply for love of racing. I've got a lot of fond memories of traveling to places like Bowling Green, KY; Baton Rouge, LA (got the worlds WORST sunburn there. My dad used to tell me we we're going to Baton Rouge to watch the tornados go by, which scared me to death!); Ontario, CA; and of course, Green Valley Raceway here in Fort Worth! I've never been to Pomona, but I'll bet Dad knows it like the back of his hand! Dad's now got a dragster and he occasionally hits the Old-Timers circuit. I guarantee you he is never happier than when he's sitting behind the wheel of an alcohol-injected monster tearing up the quarter-mile at about 200 mph. Pro Comp all the way, baby!!! Very, very cool Big Al Did your Dad ever race at the Winternationals in Pomona? I'm sure he did! I just don't recall ever going with him when I was a kid. This would've been early- to mid-70's. Did you go? I used to live about three miles from the racetrack when I was a kid. We could hear the loud speakers and the burnouts all day and night. But back in dem daze we kids didn't have two nickels to rub together...so we would either drive by and get glimpses through the fences or go up on the hills behind and watch until the cops ran us off.
