I've Got You Under My Skin Cole Porter I've got you under my skin. I've got you deep in the heart of me. So deep in my heart that you're really a part of me. I've got you under my skin. I'd tried so not to give in. I said to myself: this affair never will go so well. But why should I try to resist when, baby, I know so well I've got you under my skin? I'd sacrifice anything come what might For the sake of havin' you near In spite of a warnin' voice that comes in the night And repeats, repeats in my ear: Don't you know, little fool, you never can win? Use your mentality, wake up to reality. But each time that I do just the thought of you Makes me stop before I begin 'Cause I've got you under my skin. (Musical interlude) I would sacrifice anything come what might For the sake of havin' you near In spite of the warning voice that comes in the night And repeats - how it yells in my ear: Don't you know, little fool, you never can win? Why not use your mentality - step up, wake up to reality? But each time I do just the thought of you Makes me stop just before I begin 'Cause I've got you under my skin. Yes, I've got you under my skin.

Based upon how much grief...? TBH, if PD wants to go...then go. If DEEP won't cooperate...then go. My concern is with why this is an issue and why people decide to go. [Had some experience in this area on Jazz Corner]
-
OK. My issue is with how you conduct yourself on a BBS. DEEP has issues. PD, aparently, has issues. So do I. So do you. Who do we vote off the Jazz "island" then?
-
Whoa. You bought a Rock CD? Can the Blues be far behind...?
-
I agree. There is a World Wide Web out there for a very good reason. Ya do watcha gotta do.

If you were doing a album, who do you want playing
Tim McG replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I play [played] trumpet. My guys? Oscar Peterson or Herbie Hancock- Piano Ray Brown or Ron Carter- Bass Steve Khan, Joe Pass or Mike Stern- Guitar Ed Thigpen, Philly Joe Jones, Jack DeJohnette, Peter Erskine or Dan D'Imperio- Drums JJ Johnson, Bob Brookmeyer or Steve Turre - T-bone Jackie McClean or Cannonball Adderley- Alto Wayne Shorter or Harold Land- Tenor Miles Davis or Lee Morgan- Trumpet [you know...on the days my chops weren't up to it ] -
Personally, I frequent Streetlight Records in San Francisco and buy used CDs exclusively when I'm there. My feeling is, don't charge $18-20 bucks a CD and I'll buy new. Guilt free and without remorse.

I feel your pain. My wife calls Jazz that "bweep-bop" music. She wonders aloud why I won't play that smoothie stuff, sighs, then walks out of the room.

What jazz cd has the longest playing time?
Tim McG replied to medjuck's topic in Miscellaneous Music
You must have the patience of Job. I would run stark raving mad out of the room...TWO and 1/2 hours??? ohmigod -
I got squat. Figures.

Never bought an 8-track. Always found them to be crap, basically. They would change tracks in the middle of a song or need to be bumped to make them play. One guy I knew had to wedge a piece of folded paper between the tape and the opening of the player to make it work [kinda like how you might level a table by putting a wedge of paper under the bent leg] and I figured if you need to work that hard, they weren't worth the plastic the tape is housed in. I instead bought cassette tapes, LPs and 45s.

Hey, Uli...JC junky here, too.

Excepting that tired old chestnut My Funny Valentine [ugh], COOKIN' is my favorite of the three.
-
TBH...Dan D'Imperio is quite possibly one of the most knowledgable Jazz musicians I have ever come in contact with on this or any other BBS. There are exceptions, of course, but when he's not tweaking sensiblities, he can be a real font of Jazz knowledge. My two cents...

Good choice, BFrank My three? If Six Was Nine Voodoo Chile Stone Free TimMc

Mosaic set? Um...sure. Did I mention I am a Newbie here..? Set's in the mail...don't wait up.
-
Thanks, Guys. I think I'll fit in here just fine
-
Thanks Jim. I appreciate it...I really do.

Musta got to ten. Life is GOOD ;-)
-
My concern is...does it matter what you got or does it matter what you LISTEN to?
-
Ten posts? I'll do my best...and thanks ;-)

Patricia, My advice? Move on. You are doing yourself no good service by engaging the DEEP. You are FAR better then that. Move on, Patricia. Please? For me?

I'm a newbie...well, sorta. I started posting on Jazz BBS' back in the Jazz Central Station daze then on JazzOnLine then on JazzCorner now on Organissimo. Basically, I have a few miles on Jazz BBS' under my belt. When does the "newbie" label go away from my avatar? Jes' askin' TimMc

On JazzCorner, we heard of the "olive branch" thread and I thought, fair man that I am, I'd come over here and check it out. It would appear, "newbie" that I am on this BBS, that some things never change. But Danny D'Imperio is still one of my favorite BeBop drummers on the Planet...in spite of himself. Dan, Dan, Dan...will you never learn? sheesh. [This place kinda makes me think of the old JazzOnLine...and I think I like that]
