  1. I get your point. I guess what I mean is 3-4 cigars a month and it is a treat as opposed to a "must have it" type of deal. If I miss my Friday evening cigar...ain't no big thing.
  2. Best Zappa album...all-time, IMHO:
  3. Cigars 3-4 times a month max, but never cigarettes. Never understood the concept of inhaling smoke...on purpose. Cigars I like manly because of the aroma. Nothing like the blue smoke of a well made hand-rolled stogie, IMHO. Besides, inhale one of those things and you'll cough up your spleen.
  4. If I may, and as a member since 2004, the nature of those posts are pure fiction at best. Sadly, the poster in question was gleefully involved in the character assassinations, threats and ugliness you would be amazed to read on any internet forum. More to the point, he actually believes what he writes. The individual you speak of who posts in both places has spent much of his time deriding Organissimo on that JC thread. I think that's being more than a little disingenuous. I think you are spot on, Aggie. I guess it all depends on your definition of "fun".
  5. Giants pitching has hit an all time low. Gonna be a long season I'm afraid. Grrrr
  6. Not that it matters to anyone, but here is the message I sent to Lois: Lois, All animosity aside, I am sorry to see JazzCorner go down. I met many good people there and had many a good discussion. Some, I have met personally and because of a direct result of my existence on your website. I am sincerely sorry things could not have worked out for the better and I want to personally thank you for all you did to keep the place going...especially after Jazz Central Station went down. You gave us a place to continue. To thrive. To live and to share more than just our love for Jazz. I wish for you only the best in your future projects in the support of the Jazz music we all love. Sincerely and in Regret, Tim "GoodSpeak" And with that, I leave this thread...possibly this BBS. I am so very sorry that things could not have been better between us. I am not a bad person. But...I guess that doesn't matter, either. All the best, Tim
  7. Yike! We have a huge Chinese Pistachio tree in our front yard next to the garage and another smaller one in the backyard. I'd sure like to know if there is a reason for this, too. Jim, How often did you have the tree thinned out? We called a tree guy a couple years ago and he advised us to trim the big tree every 3-4 years.
  8. I think we take Chuck's advice: Move on. Oh and I want to thank Kevin for the encouraging words. I appreciate it, my friend.
  9. So do my Giants. Ugh.
  10. I hope Clint Hopson and HenryMc make their way over here. Great guys. A crying shame about JMJ, though. And Rollie? I have nothing to say except that I have nothing to say.
  11. I can name one, but only because he was a student in my school district: Aaron Hill.
  12. Hey Jim... Your Rangers let me down in that double header yesterday. You were supposed to beat AZ. Wa'happen?
  13. You should watch the Giants' middle relief. Ugh.
  14. Back when I lived in East LA County, there was a DJ on KMET named Paraquat Kelly [formally, Machine Gun Kelly]. His name was a parody of the chemical spraying going on down in Mexico at the time [70s]. Legalize it, dammit.
  15. Post Bop/Hard Bop Texas Swing...well, maybe. Fusion Jazz Alternative Rock Living Art 3-D Chalk Street Art
  16. Well...there was "Mod" back in the 60s. That's short for Modern, isn't it?
  17. My '81 Toyota Pick-up trumps your car,
  18. No chance, Quincy. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/05/25/giants-win-on-angel-pagans-walk-off-inside-the-park-home-run/ WOO HOO!!!
  19. Inside the park walk-off HOME RUN! Pagan!
  20. Nope. I don't own a Blue Ray, Laser Disk player, CD mini-disk or an 8-Track for the same reason: Too expensive to buy recordings and NObody has them with any kind of variety.
  21. A short list: -1981 Toyota truck...with a four-speed stick. And a carburetor. -Technics direct drive turntable...at least 30 years old. -a desk phone...and it still works. -45 rpm records. - My trumpet. Conn Director; circa 1965.
  22. My daughter hits 18 next month. Better get the wallet ready, I guess. But she's my youngest and worth every penny
  23. Better than: Whitey Ford & Yogi? Newcombe & Campanella? Koufax/Drysdale & Roseboro? I'm sure there are others... Yep. And they are both still early in their respective careers. Once Kershaw gets to free agency, I sincerely hope the Giants make a run at him. Zito is gone after this year, so the money will be there.
  24. Something to ponder from last year's All-Star game...the best pitching battery in the history of baseball. Bar none:
