  1. This is friggin' HILARIOUS!! "Kemp's recollection was similar to something that happened to former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda, who was rebuffed by one of his favorite players when he was growing up. As fate would have it, he later faced that same player in a game and hit him with a pitch." OK. So this means Kemp's gesture was phony concern for a cancer victim...? I'm sorry. I don't follow the logic.
  2. The definition of "Class": http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-400_162-57583482/watch-dodgers-star-matt-kemp-makes-cancer-stricken-fans-day/ This 19 year-old kid has terminal cancer with only 90 days to live. His wish was to meet Matt Kemp. I have to say that to this die-hard Giants fan, Matt Kemp is truly an inspiration. No kidding.

  7. Nice walk-off HR by Posey against the Dodgers last night
  8. I had longer than shoulder length hair in the 70s. My hair dressing was a brush.
  9. [rim shot] But seriously folks....my friend's mom couldn't make pancakes if her very life depended on it. When my friend told her they were terrible....she really blew her stack. [rim shot]
  10. I may have a bead on some Giants vs. Dodgers tickets this Sunday afternoon...keep a good thought!
  11. Hey Jim, I see you're a staffer now. Congrats! Tim
  12. BTW...this was a joke on my part. Apparently, not a terribly funny one.
  13. I just like the way these guys play off of each other, never skipping a beat. A lot like Miles and Coltrane did, if I may be so bold.
  14. Losing three in San Diego was bad; terrible fielding last night caused a loss, and bad pitching today. Still, no one is going to pulling away in the NL West, all the teams look very average right now. I dunno. On Saturday, Zito had a five run lead only to give it all away. On Friday, Lincecum pitched a great seven innings only to be let down by the hitting. The bullpen hasn't been sharp at all. TBH, I think the NL West is very competitive. If you look at the schedule, these guys have spent most of this young season beating up on each other. The surprise is the Padres, IMHO.
  15. Pancakes and smiling women? Gaaa! You guys are tearing at the very fabric of this board! What is wrong with you people?
  16. Pitching has been a problem this year for the Giants, too. I keep telling myself not to panic...it's still early. Grrrrr
  17. Yeah....only if you're not a Giants fan.
  18. OK. These close game losses are starting to get on my nerves. Grrrrr
  19. That trade with Dallas for the Niners to move up to #18 worked out OK...Eric Reid a Safety from LSU.
  20. OK, now THAT was cool
  21. In the States, you can get some very nice French Bordeaux for a good, low price. Some real gems out there if you're willing to look.
  22. Brewers are looking great so far this year. They sure tore up my Giants last week. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/pitcher_8.jsp Now, if you can get a Howitzer that can pass that muster, hey, go for it! Still no mention of cannon fire
  23. So if i'm a paying customer that gives me carte blanc to do just anything I please...even if it ruins the enjoyment of the game for the other 45,000 paying customers? Both of our bad spellings aside - Seriously? It would be a lot easier to just say that you don't like the rule but it is what it is, maybe some day it'll be changed/modified/whatever. But instead, the argument is that Certain Rights (With Penalties If Exceeded) = Carte Blanche. Look, all I'm saying is fan interference is no more justified than using a Howitzer as the pitcher. The rules don't disallow cannon fire either. Personally, I want to watch the game not some dork steal an out from an OFer. And I don't give a tinker's damn what the rules say.
  24. I see. So if i'm a paying customer that gives me carte blanc to do just anything I please...even if it ruins the enjoyment of the game for the other 45,000 paying customers? Well, it is not a game I would want to attend.
  25. They don't put up fences because it would hinder the view for the fans. Look, rules are one thing. Because you "can" do something doesn't make it right. The game of baseball is filled with unwritten rules like retaliation for a beaned batter or running across the mound on the way back to the dugout or not stealing in the late innings when the game is out of hand in your team's favor, etc. None of that is in the rule book either. I didn't come to the ballpark to watch the fans. I come to watch the players. Fans need to respect that the game is not about them grabbing a fly ball. It has been an unwritten rule since well before I saw my first 'live' game back in 1962. It has always been the unstated decorum for fans. Always. Even the players respect that when a ball goes into the dugout, nobody is deflecting the ball or hindering play That would be outside the boundaries too, wouldn't it? Even the camera men get out of the way. Why should fans play it any differently? Makes no sense.
