  1. I'd have hoped for a good quality DVD of one of their televised performances, like Don Kirschner's In Concert.
  2. Just as well that Jim got in before me. No need to change my image. In fact, maybe it's a better match now.
  3. In your rhetorical world view, "agree" and "goad" is a common dichotomy.
  4. To expect one's employer to do the right thing in a criminal matter involving its own is not reasonable in the "moral" climate of business. Here's a case that made the news today that doesn't involve anything nearly as heinous, but nonetheless despicable--mortgage lenders bilking veterans. Did the insiders who discovered that the fraud was going on inform the banks' upper management and assume they'd done their duty? Of course not, they knew what they could expect. Even the VA and the Justice Department didn't seem to want to get involved. So did they figure they'd met their obligations and let it get swept under the rug? No, they took the initiative and filed suit in federal court. Would have been nice to have guys like these in the know about what Sandusky was up to. http://www.wnem.com/story/16018410/tourist-area-residents-make-own-no-parking-signs
  5. And Decoration Day.
  6. You're restating exactly the same thing in different words. To the extent that anybody can understand what you're saying, I have not misunderstood what you were saying. I think your definition of "reasonably minded" might need some reengineering.
  7. Let me get this straight. You're saying that since no investigation was done by the vested interests in a case where law enforcement was not involved for so serious an allegation, then the assumption is that Sandusky was clearly innocent? The way your mind "works" boggles mine.
  8. I have a number of dual-format region 0 DVDs, e.g. The Greatest Jazz Films Ever from Idem, so if one has one of those and it plays fine on both sides of the disc you have a PAL-compatible machine. A region 0 PAL DVD will play fine in any computer drive. Pioneer's own description of that model doesn't mention all-region, which would be a selling point if it were kosher, I should think: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/Blu-ray-Disc-and-DVD/Pioneer-DVD-Players/DV-490V-S According to this forum thread, the model needed a hack: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/pioneer-dv-490v/6824 This vendor of the item specifically mentions modifications: http://www.world-import.com/dv-444DV.htm
  9. As far as I'm concerned religion and cult are synonyms. You don't think the recordings would be more pleasant without the tortured animal sounds?
  10. Yes, that I agree with. Flight would be an understandable reaction, but he did realize what he saw, and did follow up, albeit ineffectually it turns out. Granted, he was young and should maybe get some slack--it's the father who didn't immediately call the police (assuming he believed his son) who's, IMO, more at fault. Instead we got a cover-up worthy of The Vatican.
  11. What are the choices besides child molestation and assisted showering?
  12. Actually, she's a good-bad motorcycle, but not evil.
  13. If allowing a crime of that nature to continue without intervention is normal I want no part of normal.
  14. Death Max Von Sydow Leonard Chess
  15. As usual I have no idea what you're trying to say.
  16. John Belushi Uschi Digard Barney Bigard
  17. Was Joe Paterno "wrongly accused and fired for child molestation"? - your words. Perhaps you know something the rest of us don't know. Most of what he knows the rest of us don't. This wasn't something like shoplifting, ya know. Sure the witness should have gone straight to the police, but anybody in a position of authority aware of the accusations should have too if their authority/responsibility is to mean anything beyond a paycheck. The firings were correct and just, the rioting students are immature jerks without a properly developed moral worldview, and Goodspeak remains Goodspeak.
