  1. http://www.amazon.com/Ray-Charles-Live-France-1961/dp/B005JJSGAS I can't wait to see this. It will provide companionship on my shelf for the fabulous Brazil 1963 DVD. Fathead and Crawford are in the band. If you haven't seen O Genio, the Brazil DVD, you're missing some great moments from Tina Brooks.
  2. I'm going to suggest this to my "eai" friends.
  3. That sounds like a great show, all 3 at their peak. And you live in Brooklyn and attended IU with two friends of mine (I mentioned this to you some years ago at Smoke--I can't remember who you were playing with--maybe George Coleman?).
  4. Is that a DVD?
  5. Sam Huff Y.A. Tittle Frank Gifford
  6. Oh, I think Sandusky will face real hard time and will get his just desserts in a shower.
  7. Was Frank Pfister the inspiration for Bob Newhart?
  8. Was there a previous thread about this title? Yes! Thanks for reminding me. Here it is: I bought it based on the old thread. A mixed bag, but some really great stuff. The stuff I really want could fit on 2 discs.
  9. For a while the Kent was showing vintage Yiddish films. Shortly before I left the neighborhood in the late '70s I saw Moishe Oysher in The Singing Blacksmith. About as far from Mahavishnu as it gets, I guess...
  10. The Kent, featured in The Purple Rose of Cairo. Woody Allen grew up, IIRC, on 14th & K.
  11. I can't see Paul's image. I hope it wasn't this guy.
  12. I grew up on Avenue H & E. 9th. Here's some Midwood (neighborhood) trivia: the following people attended James Madison High (Midwood's rival): Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Bernie Sanders, Norm Coleman & Chuck Schumer. Schumer and Coleman were probably there together, as they were born a year apart. Al Franken, when he was running against Coleman, quipped that he was the only NY Jew in the race who was actually from Minnesota.
  13. Plastic Fantastic Lover The Fantastic Four The Brothers Four
  14. The head of Second Mile has resigned in hopes it would help the organization regain public confidence. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/11/14/head-of-charity-in-penn-state-sex-scandal-resigns/ I didn't know before just now that Sandusky's biography has an eerily ironic title.
  15. Fab Five Freddy (Brathwaite) E.R. Brathwaite Sidney Poitier
  16. Colors redistributed.
  17. Rod with another Deco-influenced cover.
  18. I wish I had been there. I never saw the band, though I'd seen Jerry Goodman with The Flock at the tail end of the Fillmore East. Hey Philly, we're the same age and both Brooklynites. I knew I liked you for some reason or other.
