  1. You may want to contact the Department of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital (they are the group that hosts the forum to which you linked). Perhaps they have contact information for the person who posted her symptoms. She posted the symptoms about 4 or 5 years ago so I imagine she has received a diagnosis by now. Its a long shot but it may be worth a try. My thoughts are with you as well.
  2. Buy It Now at eBay for $95 (or buy it new at Mosaic for $30 less)
  3. Thanks for pointing me to Ten Tea. The prices look really good, and there are a couple that are pretty close to me. I'll definitely give them a try. I found the following caffeine chart at Adiogo Teas. Caffeine levels of various beverages: Coffee 80 mg Cola 45 mg Black Tea 40 mg Flavored Tea 40 mg Oolong Tea 30 mg Green Tea 20 mg White Tea 15 mg Decaf Tea 5-10 mg Herbal Tea 0 mg Black tea doesn't look too strong but it looks like a close alternative to soda levels (assuming the chart is accurate). Some of the more common Black Teas are English Breakfast Tea and Earl Grey. I haven't had either in years but I imagine the English Breakfast Tea has a good amount of caffeine since it is considered a breakfast tea.
  4. I've been drinking a variety of green teas pretty much daily now for a few years. Unfortunately, the little local store I usually buy the tea from recently closed. Does anybody know of any good online resources for loose green tea (Genmai Cha, Jasmine, Sencha in particular)? Or any stores in the SF Bay Area/East Bay (I'm sure there are many but I have no idea where begin looking)?
  5. I haven't read the entire thread so forgive me if this has been posted. The Wire magazine is having an Ayler contest to win memorabilia related to the box set. Contest ends 18 November.
  6. I'm using version 6. There is an option under Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced tab where one can automatically delete cookies when the browser is closed, but I don't have that option checked so I'm not sure why it is doing that. Perhaps it is just a bug and I should reinstall (though it isn't a big hassle so I probably won't).
  7. I don't think so. If it is software, I have no idea what it is. I'm pretty sure it is just a setting on Internet Explorer that I am missing.
  8. Whenever I close Internet Explorer my cookies are automatically deleted and the location bar (and any history) is automatically cleared. Does anyone know how to change this so that the cookies and location bar don't get cleared every time I close the IE window? I've searched all throughout Tools and Internet Options but haven't yet had any luck.
  9. I caved in. PM sent regarding Andrew Hill.
  10. As with others my day was very surreal. My band was on a US tour. We had left New York 5 days prior to 9/11 and Washington DC 3 days prior. We had never played outside of the west coast. We were schudeled to play in Lawrence, Kansas on 9/11. After going back and forth we decided not to cancel but to play. The club was surprisingly crowded. The most surreal experience of my life was playing on stage while watching reruns of the planes hitting the towers on the televisions behind the bar. The mix of pleasure (playing) and pain (watching what was clearly going to be a world changing event) was overwhelming. The show turned out to be one of the most satisfying of the month for us because it was an hour or so break from events of the day.
  11. Thanks, rebooting in safe mode and deleting the folder worked. Off to download Spyware Blaster.
  12. Ugh, I somehow got spyware on my computer that I can't seem to get rid of. It sets Owebsearch.com as my homepage. I have tried manually removing it (it seems to be located in a folder called "inetdata" located in the windows directory. It won't allow me to remove it because it says the program is in use. I have tried using spyware detecters and removers (BHO Demon and Ad-Aware SE Personal). Nothing is working. Anybody have any ideas on how to get rid of this...it is driving me and my computer crazy!
  13. I was doing searches on information for Mosaic Records and I landed here.
  14. I just got a job (after a year of being jobless). I need a new car to get to work reliably (with the old one I may or may not get to work depending on how it feels in the morning - my current car has a mind of its own). Does anybody here have a hybrid car? Any thoughts on hybrids in general? I know they are pricey but, over the long run, I figure I will save in gas.
  15. I believe, with the two Mosaics on order, I have a total of twenty Mosaic Complete sets. I don't purchase the OOP sets. If I can't purchase a set directly from Mosaic, I don't make the purchase. The eBay prices are too high for me. I find it difficult to trust the potential condition of the Mosaic boxes/CDs from eBay. I definitely understand your concern. (But) I have purchased anywhere from 15-20 used sets on eBay and have never had a problem. As long as the seller has a history of good feedback I usually take the plunge. I'm not trying to convince you but in my experience it has been very rare (maybe two or three times in 5 years) where I have been sold things that didn't match their item descriptions or were so close that it didn't really matter to me (I usually email the seller with specific questions on things like Mosiac sets and other relatively expensive things just to clarify condition). OOP print Mosaics tend to go for too high of a price on eBay anyway.
  16. If you aren't familiar with your buyer or seller it is probably better to be safe than sorry because, unfortunately, it is really hard to get bad feedback removed (even if it is based on a lie or just vengeful - maybe that's why eBay's guidelines are so vague - that way they don't have to "take sides"). Luckily most buyers/sellers are great (at least in my experience). I just feel bad for doubleM, especially if you felt you sold it for a good price.
  17. No, feedback is completely optional. Nobody ever has to leave feedback since it is voluntary. If I were a seller, I would never leave feedback first. If you are a seller you may want to make sure the transaction is okay with the buyer before you leave feedback. As fucked up as it is, there are buyers (and sellers) who just want to leave negatives simply play around. I've heard too many "horror" stories of sellers who leave a positive and then have an asshole buyer leave a negative for some stupid reason. Unfortunately, because of the horror stories sellers should leave feedback once the transaction is complete (i.e. buyer is satisfied).
  18. If you decide to leave a negative make sure you just keep it factual: EOA xx/xx, NPB xx/xx, FVFC xx/xx EOA = End of Auction (date) NPB = Non-Paying Bidder (the day you file a Non-Paying Bidder form) (date) FVFC = Final Value Fee Credit (date) (the day you file for your credit. this also counts as a point against the bidder). If you don't leave a negative, make sure you at least file for your Final Value Fee Credit. It is too bad it takes three people to do that but the sooner you get the guy kicked off of eBay, the better it is for all sellers).
  19. Thanks. It looks like there are several options.
  20. Does anyone have a name for the device that hooks up these players to the FM transmission? Are there some that are better than others? I've been looking to get an iPod (or some other type) but the ability to play it in my car was one of my biggest concerns.

    Funny Rat

Ken Vandermark's website has a great Quicktime recording of: MISHA MENGELBERG (PIAN0) KEN VANDERMARK (REEDS) & HAMID DRAKE (DRUMS) Recorded live at the Storefront Theatre Gallery 37 in Chicago. It is a Featured Performance link on the right side of the page. Great performance. I can't seem to save it even though it is a quicktime file. I'd love to listen to it more often. Anyway, I recommend it to anyone.
  22. Its not my auction but if anyone just can't wait for this set.... Miles Davis - Seven Steps Complete Columbia 7 CD set (I know this should go in the Offering & For Sale thread, but it seemed more appropriate here)
  23. I believe those are not numbered. I have 4 review sets. Three are not numbered, one other has "Review Copy" written where the number usually is.
  24. I would think that Misha Mengelberg would need to be mentioned. His use of time signatures is something I rarely hear (in any kind of music).
  25. I just tried placing an online order at Mosaic to try to take advantage of the free shipping. There seems to be a problem with the order going through (a server error message comes up). Just wondering if anyone else tried placing an order today and had the same/similar problem? C.
