  1. Lowell Fulson: Hung Down Head
  2. Seeing that video brought back thoughts of seeing The Copasetics years ago. Sadly, they've all passed, but there are videos and memories.
  3. Michael Kanan - Nathanael: Maria's Place (Percaso)
  4. Perhaps knowledge of the Judge Crater story was a NYC thing.
  5. From today's NY Times Metropolitan Diary: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/27/nyregion/metropolitan-diary-it-happened-at-birdland.html?rref=collection%2Fcolumn%2Fmetropolitan-diary&action=click&contentCollection=nyregion&region=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=3&pgtype=collection&_r=0 When you're 20, you think you know it all.
  6. I included the link because I thought that most overseas members wouldn't be familiar with his legend - as well as most U.S. members under the age of 50 or so. By the way, that was quite a New Year's Eve bill.
  7. I have the LP too, but hardly ever listen. I guess that it would be a good one to play for jazz loving friends, as you say. To me, Ed Sherman comes off as a jazz-influenced minor league Lenny Bruce. I assume that George Crater was a takeoff on Judge Crater. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Force_Crater
  8. I'm not sure if it's my favorite - it could be - but it's a very good recording.
  9. "I Guess I'll Have To Change My Plan" has some beautiful late Pres.

  20. Dig These Blues - The Legendary Dig Masters
  21. Henry Threadgill's Zooid: Up Popped the Two Lips (pi)
  22. A Classic ! My copy is signed by Roswell.
  23. Cables: People have different takes on this subject. I can only give my own experience (and it's exactly that - nothing more, nothing less). Like Mike, my dealer lent me three sets of cables to compare. I kept them for over a month and kept each in my system for at least a week. Listening over extended periods, I found that I could hear some differences and eventually preferred one over the other two. Again, just my experience. I know that others have different opinions. If you can find a cooperative dealer, try to do extended comparisons and judge for yourself.
  24. http://www.westportnow.com/index.php?%2Fv3%2Fcomments%2Fsally_white_former_owner_of_sallys_place_88%2F A good friend and I used to meet a couple times a year at her store in Westport to talk music and pick up some sides. She always had a welcoming spirit. I miss her store and I miss her. Thanks for being a great hostess and for being a friend to the music, Sally.
